I understand that a large part of her success throughout the season was thanks to Cuaron’s existing influence and that the Academy would nominate foreign-language performances in a film by a well-known director like him as opposed to performances that were also great, like Joanna Kulig in Pawel Pawelowski’s Cold War. But Yalitza mentioned in a recent interview after the Oscars that she would be looking over the projects/scripts sent to her and if Cuaron decides to make the film he was planning to make before Roma – a project he developed with his brother Carlos about early humans 100,000 years ago, I would love to see Yalitza cast in it.March 1, 2019 at 6:11 pm #1202800840
She should do like Marion Cotillard did and start taking English lessons. Cotillard worked really hard to improve her accent and stuff so she could work in English speaking films.March 1, 2019 at 8:27 pm #1202801003
She will be a one time nominee.March 1, 2019 at 9:11 pm #1202801011
Aparicio was the face of Roma, maybe even more than Cuarón, and I worry that they won’t be able to separate her future work from that role. Also, if she doesn’t start doing English-language roles, then she’ll probably never return, which is a damn shame because she’s a treasure.March 1, 2019 at 11:32 pm #1202801049
Will she find herself in a top 3 Oscar Best Picture movie playing a simple role directed by a good director who’s doing 70% of her job again you ask? Probably not.March 2, 2019 at 6:38 am #1202801248
Unfortunately, I feel like this will be her only Oscar nomination.March 2, 2019 at 7:45 am #1202801293
I don’t think she will have many opportunities maybe if Del Toro or AGI decides to do a Spanish language film they might help her but otherwise (unless she learns English really fast) I don’t see it happening.March 2, 2019 at 8:17 am #1202801298
No. But anything’s possible, I guess.March 2, 2019 at 8:29 am #1202801302
Since she made it this far, she might do it again. You never know. But she’s not necessarily a professional actress yet, I suppose. So who knows what her intentions are, first of all. And I don’t think she displayed such an insane talent that she will “obviusly come back”. She has to work on it all like many have said. Her acting, accent, and so on.March 2, 2019 at 9:05 am #1202801324
She’d probably have to actually act for a second nomination so I doubt itMarch 2, 2019 at 9:38 am #1202801342
Remember Catalina Sandino Moreno who actually can act and looks like a Miss Universe?
