I can’t find a thread for this, but the trailer has been released.
I know I’ve clowned Emma Stone’s win for LA LA Land but she looks absolutely incredible in the new Cruella trailer. (My opinion)
Some are complaining that it is too much like DC… I don’t care!

Controversial take: All these 21st century live action Disney films are inferior to the first versions and serve no purpose other than a cash grab. I haven’t seen most of them, thankfully.
And Emma, girl, no. She really deserves better.February 17, 2021 at 10:51 am #1204046670
This looks wack.

The film twitter/letterboxd crew complain about these movies, but everyone else seems to enjoy them. They make billions of dollars.
However, I have a feeling this will be subversive to their live action formula and will turn off more people. It looks a bit too edgy for most movie watchers.February 17, 2021 at 11:04 am #1204046688
This doesn’t even look like a real movie. What a shit show.

It looks awful, and while I like Stone – surely she’s not going to outdo Glenn Close’s interpretation of this character.February 17, 2021 at 11:22 am #1204046730
Am I the only one that thinks it looks really good? Emma looks great and her English accent is convincing. The costumes and production design are gorgeous.February 17, 2021 at 11:35 am #1204046757
I really want to like it, I really do because I think Emma is brave for taking on character actor roles. But honestly…the trailer is a mess? She seems to be going from this extremely affected, funny Anne-Hathaway-in-The-Witches vibe (which would be good enough) but also a weird steampunk vibe and also an all-too-English vibe? It all feels a bit incoherentFebruary 17, 2021 at 11:38 am #1204046766
There are some things people like Anne Hathaway, Meryl Streep, Helena Bonham Carter, Glenn Close who regularly vamp it up can get away with and others just can’t.
That said, Emma Stone is first and foremost a comedienne, let’s hope this transcends messy caricature.February 17, 2021 at 11:55 am #1204046799
I am looking forward to this. I think Emma Stone will nail it based on what we’ve seen in the trailer.

I actually enjoyed it.
I’m surprised many did not. I think Emma looked and sounded amazing in the trailer. She really put effort into it.February 17, 2021 at 12:42 pm #1204046903

Many people are liking it. Some people here have weird obsession with emma stone (in a bad way).February 17, 2021 at 1:58 pm #1204047044
What was that? This ain’t it, sis. These blatant Disney cash grabs shouldn’t be applauded or celebrated. But at least Glenn has a deserved EP credit, so $$$. Emma has very large shoes to fill here.February 17, 2021 at 2:09 pm #1204047062
Stone’s accent is fine but this looks like an SNL skit that Kristen Wiig would have done when she was on the show.
No one will ever outperform Glenn’s interpretation of this character.
FYC OSCARS : PROMISING YOUNG WOMAN IN ALL CATEGORIES (ESP. ACTRESS – Carey Mulligan AND ORIGINAL SCREENPLAY — EMERALD FENNELL), VANESSA KIRBY FOR "PIECES OF A WOMAN", ESSIE DAVIS FOR "BABYTEETH"February 17, 2021 at 2:12 pm #1204047070
I think it looks a little too Joker-y, but that does not stop me from liking it. Im actually very excited to see it.
Plus McNamara worked on the script, I loved Gillespie’s previous film (Tonya) and Stone keeps pushing herself as an actress, come on!
