I can’t find a thread for this, but the trailer has been released.
I know I’ve clowned Emma Stone’s win for LA LA Land but she looks absolutely incredible in the new Cruella trailer. (My opinion)
Some are complaining that it is too much like DC… I don’t care!

And Emma, girl, no. She really deserves better.

However, I have a feeling this will be subversive to their live action formula and will turn off more people. It looks a bit too edgy for most movie watchers.

February 17, 2021 at 11:13 am #1204046711It looks awful, and while I like Stone – surely she’s not going to outdo Glenn Close’s interpretation of this character.

ReplyCopy URLFebruary 17, 2021 at 11:35 am #1204046757I really want to like it, I really do because I think Emma is brave for taking on character actor roles. But honestly…the trailer is a mess? She seems to be going from this extremely affected, funny Anne-Hathaway-in-The-Witches vibe (which would be good enough) but also a weird steampunk vibe and also an all-too-English vibe? It all feels a bit incoherent
ReplyCopy URLFebruary 17, 2021 at 11:38 am #1204046766There are some things people like Anne Hathaway, Meryl Streep, Helena Bonham Carter, Glenn Close who regularly vamp it up can get away with and others just can’t.
That said, Emma Stone is first and foremost a comedienne, let’s hope this transcends messy caricature.
ReplyCopy URLFebruary 17, 2021 at 11:55 am #1204046799I am looking forward to this. I think Emma Stone will nail it based on what we’ve seen in the trailer.

I’m surprised many did not. I think Emma looked and sounded amazing in the trailer. She really put effort into it.

Many people are liking it. Some people here have weird obsession with emma stone (in a bad way).
ReplyCopy URLFebruary 17, 2021 at 1:58 pm #1204047044What was that? This ain’t it, sis. These blatant Disney cash grabs shouldn’t be applauded or celebrated. But at least Glenn has a deserved EP credit, so $$$. Emma has very large shoes to fill here.
ReplyCopy URLFebruary 17, 2021 at 2:09 pm #1204047062Stone’s accent is fine but this looks like an SNL skit that Kristen Wiig would have done when she was on the show.
No one will ever outperform Glenn’s interpretation of this character.

Plus McNamara worked on the script, I loved Gillespie’s previous film (Tonya) and Stone keeps pushing herself as an actress, come on!
