Chazelle is reteaming up with JK Simmons for a musical film “La La Land” also staring Ryan Gosling and Emma Stone in their 3rd collaboration. Gosling is a jazz pianist and Stone is an aspiring actress while Simmons plays a character named “The Boss”. Chazelle is directing and writing it. Jessica Rothe, Sonoya Mizuno, and Callie Hernande are also staring in it. Summit has already slated it for a July 16, 2016 release date.
I’m already in love with this. Whiplash was so astounding to the point that any Chazelle movie will be one of my most anticipated as years go by. I hope this is excellent!July 9, 2015 at 6:18 pm #189941
Same. Eager for whatever Chazelle decide to do next. Here the project makes it easier, sound good and I like the theme consistency. Good, good.
Although underwhelmed for casting Ryan Gosling.July 9, 2015 at 6:37 pm #189942

Underwhelmed is my response to the casting of Emma Stone.July 9, 2015 at 6:44 pm #189943
I’m just glad they are working together again to try to make us forget Gangster Squad where their scenes were really underwritten and Stone was given little to do. I thought they had terrific chemistry in Crazy, Stupid Love and I hope we get to hear Emma’s singing voice after doing BroadwayJuly 9, 2015 at 7:18 pm #189944
I liked better when Emma Watson and Miles Teller were attached. Or maybe someone else. I read that Emmy Rossum was considered when Watson dropped; that would be something! Also think Eddie Redmayne at some point was an option. Rossum-Redmayne is a win-win to me.
While not excited for Gosling and neither for Stone, both can be very good actors when in the right hands. It’s just a little boring, uninspired pair that hasn’t worked for me in the past.July 10, 2015 at 6:34 am #189945
Never saw “Gangster Squad,” but thought the Gosling-Stone chemistry in “Crazy Stupid Love” was electric. And with Chazelle as the director, I’m expecting marvelous things.August 5, 2015 at 1:16 am #189947

How did I never hear of this. So F excited.August 8, 2015 at 12:10 pm #189949
Apperently Miles Teller was going to be in it but was cut by Chazelle and Teller wasn’t happy about it. It was one of the things brought up in the article that was written about him that people have been talking about this week that made him look like a dick. I couldn’t even get through the first paragraph because it was so poorly writtenAugust 8, 2015 at 12:15 pm #189950

I read the entire article and that was the thing I kept. Don’t know if true (questionable as the whole article is), but if it is, what a shame that the Chazelle-Teller duo was broken just after one collaboration.August 9, 2015 at 11:58 am #189951
I wonder if JK Simmons might get nominated again.August 9, 2015 at 1:41 pm #189952
I hope Melissa Benoist and Chazelle work together again soon. She was such a bright spot in the film. She was so cute and adorable.August 10, 2015 at 4:04 pm #189953
Lionsgate just tweeted out that production has started today and that John Legend is confirmed and Rosemarie Dewitt is also involved!August 10, 2015 at 6:21 pm #189954
Ooh looking forward to this! How long till we set pics you reckon? This could be a real contender if there’s some gravitas behind it and it’s not just fluffy. Could this be a best pic nominee? Well it’s almost certainly gonna win the golden globe.
