I wish the casting was more interesting than Stone and Gosling AGAIN but Wiplash was my favorite film of last year so i’m excited for anything he does. Looks every different though!March 7, 2016 at 1:51 pm #189957
Great news: La La Land appears to be up there as a real awards contender.
Bad news: we now all have to wait until December to check the film out, instead of the original July release date.

I’m sad I have to wait 4-5 extra months but hopefully this is a good sign! It has the vibes of a good summer movie but musicals are doing well with Christmas releases like Into the Woods and Les Mis.March 8, 2016 at 10:35 am #189960
So excited that it’s been moved to December!
It just went from being one of my most anticipated films of the year (due to Whiplash being the best film of 2014) to also being one of its most promising award contenders.March 8, 2016 at 2:20 pm #189962
It all but definitely will be moved in the UK to like January/February knowing our luck.

Yeah, there is absolutely no way the UK release will be in July after moving it to December in the US. It just doesn’t work that way.March 8, 2016 at 3:17 pm #189964
Oscar Nomination #2 for Emma, perhaps?

More important: Oscar nom 2 for Gosling after a decade of absence, when he clearly should be a winner by now.March 8, 2016 at 9:27 pm #189967
also Oscar Nomination #2 for J.K. Simmons???March 9, 2016 at 1:46 am #189968
And maybe Oscar nominations 2 & 3 for Chazelle for writing and directing?

Or at the very least, like a 4 time nominee. How he only has one nomination is beyond me. After Leo got his Oscar, I’m definitely backing Ryan Gosling as the next “due” person, if I had to choose someone.March 9, 2016 at 6:22 am #189970
It looks very interesting. There’s a chance it will be the first acclaimed musical since “Chicago” (one would argue about “Dreamgirls” and “Les Miserables”…).
Ryan Gosling is certainly overdue of 2nd nomination. Emma Stone… not so much, but she can surprise. Their chemistry is slighty overrated, though, but if you’re as good as your last movie, then Chazelle as of right now can do no wrong.July 10, 2016 at 7:50 pm #1201861806
Can’t fucking wait for this.
