I thought this is coming out in 2018? Has Denzel gotten himself together to shoot the film or is he still pressed he lost.

I’m very excited for this film. Based on the principles involved (Denzel, Gilroy, Farrell, Elswit) and what people have said about the script, I think you can pencil Denzel in for his 8th Oscar nomination whenever this film comes out, whether this year or next.
ReplyCopy URLApril 21, 2017 at 4:22 pm #1202073038Hopefully it’s 2018 so we are spared a year where people think 2 awards>50 awards and a front runner LOL.
ReplyCopy URLApril 21, 2017 at 4:49 pm #1202073050Oh I’m pretty sure some of you thought his career would be over by now in regards to him being in Oscar races again, what with his action films and all. Must be frustrating for some of his detractors that he can do whatever type of film he wants, and then gets an Oscar nom whenever he decides to do a dramatic film without having to “struggle” for it. So I’m sure you wouldn’t want Denzel involved in another Best Actor Oscar race so soon.
ReplyCopy URLApril 21, 2017 at 5:17 pm #1202073063Bro please, we got better things to do than waste another minute/second wishing/worrying about Denzel showing up in another Oscar race. In fact, it’s amusing a role he won a Tony for is one where he got destroyed/crushed/demolished on the recent Oscar race by a “bad actor/rapist”. Now that I think about it, Imma root for Denzel to show up again in this year and get crushed again by DDL twice. Are you going to call Oldman a shit actor if Oldman beats Denzel?
ReplyCopy URLApril 21, 2017 at 5:31 pm #1202073075Yeah, you got better things to do..like be the first one to reply to a Denzel/Inner City thread on here even before his fans..LOL..come on man who are you kidding.
Whatever, we’ll do this again this upcoming Oscar season. Another go round is fine by me..I mean it’s not like he’s losing a step or anything in his craft. So I’m sure you’ll be sweating bullets (like you probably were on Oscar night) again anytime Denzel could potentially win his 3rd.
ReplyCopy URLApril 21, 2017 at 5:45 pm #1202073082Naw I just wanted to be a bitch and shade Denzel cuz of his epic loss and Oscar night reaction nothing else to it but we can go with your story of me sweating if it makes u feel better. So that’s my reason to be the first to respond.
Don’t know why you assume I’d care if Denzel wins another Oscar or not. It’s not like I dissapear-reappear from the forums once Denzel is no longer in conversation unlike you (based on your post history) I just like to see the best performance win, which wasn’t Denzel that year. If he gives the best performance for this movie, then I’ll root for him to win.
ReplyCopy URLApril 21, 2017 at 6:46 pm #1202073120Washington can win a third without being a precursor juggernaut. I definitely sense him being a consecutive nominee if Inner City is completed in time.

Critics awards groups haven’t backed him for awhile. Since after Training Day, when he started doing more mainstream action pictures and started getting regularly voted America’s favorite actor and all that stuff. His stature never really diminished, but when he did have an award-level performance in contention after his 2nd Oscar (American Gangster, Flight and Fences) he won very little or nothing in the way of critics awards. To be fair, he didn’t need them to get the nominations, and I suspect he only just missed a nod for American Gangster.
The Critics groups may start warming to him again, as he’ll be doing back-to-back “serious” movies with Fences and Inner City in consecutive years. Wouldn’t bet my house on it, but it’s possible.
I don’t think Denzel needs to dominate a critics season to win a 3rd. But he can’t afford someone else to completely dominate, because more often than not (as seen this year with Affleck) that person will have the momentum to win. The ideal situation (s) for Denzel if Inner City comes out this year is if he dominates the critics awards (unlikely given his recent history with them) or critics awards spread the wealth. If a number of different actors win the critics awards, then Denzel would having a very strong shot at winning.

I thought you said critics awards dont matter in the most recent race. How come they matte now?
