For the last few months, Casey Affleck has been swarmed with controversy; however, he has still been able to win virtually every award. In fact, there has even been a forum about his controversy on this website. However, I think Constance Wu might have said something that would cause nearly every Oscar voter to rethink their vote for Affleck.
Specifically she said: “Casey Affleck’s win will be a nod to Trump’s”
Boom! There it is. Everybody in Hollywood hates Trump. If this gains momentum, would they really vote for Affleck. I would assume that Affleck has had such momentum that it would be hard to knock him down, but I can’t help but wonder how Denzel Washington is celebrating right now.
Will this gain momentum? Could Affleck lose? Please Discuss!January 25, 2017 at 1:00 pm #1201995172
“Art doesn’t exist for the sake of awards, but awards DO exist to honor all that art is trying to accomplish in life,” she wrote. “So context matters. Because in acting, human life matters.”
LOL @ this quote. I wonder if she thinks arrogant people also shouldn’t be winning awards because they have “bad hearts”.January 25, 2017 at 1:00 pm #1201995173
OMG! I see you, Constance! “F my career then!!!” It’s starting, folks.January 25, 2017 at 1:03 pm #1201995177
My favourite line of hers is “Acting is about the dignity of the human experience”. Well, I not sure she has seen most of the movies in the last 30 years then (There will be blood, Silence of the lambs, Schindlers list etc.).January 25, 2017 at 1:04 pm #1201995183
Casey Affleck will be fine after getting this far already. I think that everybody is aware of the situation by now and nobody cares.January 25, 2017 at 1:09 pm #1201995194
Question: Has there ever been precedence for winning all the precursors and then losing due to scandal?January 25, 2017 at 1:10 pm #1201995195
I think Affleck can still lose – but not merely on account of Wu’s one statement. First, he’d need to lose SAG to Washington and, on top that, there would need to be a flood of more statements akin to Wu’s – an effort so overwhelming that it manages to dominate news coverage over the coming weeks. Without both of those happening, I think he still rather comfortably prevails.

Where was her outrage before? When he won the globe. When he was nominated at SAG, Globe and BAFTA?January 25, 2017 at 1:15 pm #1201995203
Another case of white privilege. Go Constance. #FightTheGoodFightJanuary 25, 2017 at 1:26 pm #1201995212
Go Constance Wu!!!!January 25, 2017 at 1:26 pm #1201995214
Lol what an idiot. She insulted half of the country that voted trump and watches her show to pay her bills, then insulted the oscar front runner and ensured that the Affleck’s and Matt Damon, some of the most influential people in Hollywood, will never work with her. Not very smartJanuary 25, 2017 at 1:27 pm #1201995216
The desperation for Affleck to lose is really getting bad if we’re using a quote from Constance Wu to prove a pointJanuary 25, 2017 at 1:32 pm #1201995220

Yeah, only if this got like decent media coverage (which I highly doubt) will it make a difference. People either know and don’t care because it is far too late anyway or they don’t care to know.
