It’s officially happening, and Rachel Zegler is starring.
Thoughts?

Zegler fits the bland herione bill. All that matters is who gets to play the Queen and whether there will be contoversy if they don’t hire real little people as dwarves.

Nicole Kidman.
End of the movie.
Kidman as the Queen would be the repeat of Theron as the Queen. Snow White BTFO.

ReplyCopy URLJune 23, 2021 at 10:13 am #1204314607Nah, Naomi Scott was also put in big movies, well, what was expected to be big, before anyone saw the first one (Power Rangers) and after the short-lived blip on the radar with Aladdin, she crashed with Charlie’s Angels, couldn’t even get a role in Obi Wan series (Moses Ingram beat her to it). Zegler is a replacement by the look of it and lets not pretend that Maria is a tough role. Look pretty and in love, sing well, that’s all that is.No wonder that she got a superhero and Snow White, 2 other lightweight roles.

It is tough vocally for sure. Dramatically it’s not especially complex but that doesn’t make it easy to pull off.
As for this Snow White remake, I don’t care much for it, nor do I think there’s quite enough shared nostalgia for the very early Disney films among modern moviegoers to guarantee a smash (see the receipts for Dumbo), but Ziegler deserves the benefit of the doubt at least until we’ve seen WSS.

I’m sure that Gerwig’s involvement will be a plus for this project, and she should do whatever she wants but personally, I’d much prefer for her to be writing and directing her own original works.
