Neither of her 3 wins she deserved over the competition.

96: Brenda Blethyn for Secrets & Lies

17: Sally Hawkins for The Shape of Water

20: Vanessa Kirby for Pieces of a Woman

I would, however, give her the Oscar in 88 for Mississippi Burning.

It's about the chaotic editing in Moulin Rouge!

Since Meryl doesn’t have 3rd lead win she needs to keep her distance from McDormand, Hepburn, and Day-Lewis.

Meryl now that 2 people have more wins than her in Actress:

FYC Emmys: "The Crown" in all categories, "I May Destroy You" in all categories, "It's a Sin" in all categories, "Small Axe" in all categories, Billie Piper ("I Hate Suzie"), Yvonne Strahovski ("Stateless") and Ruth Wilson ("His Dark Materials")

The fact that McDormand has three more acting oscars than Glenn Close even though Close is ten times the actor is a travesty and no, she should not have three Oscars.

Even Anette Bening is 10x the actor Frances is. Anette has done vast array of roles and transformations.

Frances just plays that relatable southern woman. No range.

The McDormand slander in these forums after this win is atrocious. She’s an incredibly talented actress and deserves all of her plaudits. And I can say this even though I wanted Mulligan to win last night.

Yes, I think she does. I concede that she isn’t as well known or iconic as Streep or Hepburn, but her three wins are legit imo. She’s a subtle, nuanced actress who almost always delivers.

The slander is extremely predictable had she not won for 3 Billboards people would’ve been rooting for her now.

The right answer is leading this poll.

They gave it to her this year then will snub her next year when she has a much better performance. Such is the Oscar way

Yes. I have very few qualms about any of her three acting wins. In comparison to her fellow three-time winners, I bet Meryl would have a third Best Actress by now (and fourth overall) had she not received so many nominations that many feel were unwarranted. Though personally, I think I’d rather have that staggering nominations tally than worry about what category my wins were in. I’ll have to revisit this if Frances wins a fourth anytime soon.

Absolutely. Olive Kitteridge (which she would have won the Oscar for, were it a movie)

Very much agreed. One of my favorite large or small screen performances… ever.

She is great but there is no way in hell she was better than Emily Watson, and IMO she didnt deserve it for 3BB but she was superb in Nomadland so this win is her most deserved IMO even if I was also team Mulligan

Lots of people probably deserve 2 or 3 Oscars at the end of the day, Frances was just one of the few who managed to actually get them
