She’s amazing at choosing awards-showered projects in her golden years, like Katharine. As opposed to just primo role selection. She gave voters exactly what they wanted, which is all that matters really.April 26, 2021 at 1:30 pm #1204229927
All I know is that she’s winning a fourth for Women Talking.April 26, 2021 at 2:41 pm #1204230145
Underwhelmed for a 3rd acting Oscar just like Streep 3rd Oscar it makes getting 3rd Oscars not mean anything besides Daniel Day his 3 are better.April 26, 2021 at 2:42 pm #1204230150
Daniel > Frances > MerylApril 26, 2021 at 2:42 pm #1204230154
She sure does! So glad The Academy agrees.April 27, 2021 at 4:42 pm #1204232373
Question: Do you think after McDormand’s third win, you’ll see now more actors winning much more easily three Acting Oscars because of the mindset “Hey, if McDormand won three Oscars, why this or that actor shouldn’t have three???”, and thus winning three Oscars won’t be a big deal anymore like it used to be???April 27, 2021 at 4:52 pm #1204232402
No. Getting a 3rd Oscar will still be insanely difficult to pull off based on Meryl’s gap from second to third. She probably would have never won a 3rd without Weinstein’s aggressive campaigning. Sally Field could have easily coattailed with DDL for Lincoln which was a beloved Best Picture nominee that scored 12 nominations. But she did not win.
Frances had the benefit of starring in a Best Picture winner in which she produced for her 3rd Oscar vehicle but also benefitted from a lack of alternatives. Vanessa Kirby was a non factor. Carey Mulligan would never win for that type of role. Andra Day was the lone nominee of a film. Viola Davis’ film severely underperformed at the Oscars and she might have been a SAG thing. We just didn’t know the Academy would be so willing to give Frances a 3rd Oscar so soon.

Yea, if she got people to vote for her 3 times then yea she deserves the 3 oscarsApril 27, 2021 at 7:09 pm #1204232510
Lol @ how this implies that both Streep and Day-Lewis are deserving of 3 wins when the opposite is true.April 27, 2021 at 7:16 pm #1204232519
All I know is that she’s winning a fourth for Women Talking.
She may win before that film for The Tragedy of Macbeth. But if she does, she will defeat Dunst, and I’m almost sure Dunst will be the actess I’ll be rooting for this next season… If Dunst gets a nomination, I hope she doesn’t end up like Carey Mulligan.
Also, I’m curious about Jennifer Hudson because she does portray a more accessible singer (rip Aretha) considering the context of pop culture (more than Judy Garland, Billie Holiday, Ma Rainey and Nina Simone).April 27, 2021 at 7:17 pm #1204232523
Streep is respected enough to always get a nomination but not strong enough for a win because she is getting all the roles from her peers.April 27, 2021 at 8:01 pm #1204232544
Yes, she does.
And lol suddenly these haters are bringing out all the other nominees who were even #3 or #4 of winning chances in that year’s race (e.g. Robbie, Ronan.) You guys need to get a drink and get over for your favs and for the hate against an actress who works so hard and actually doesn’t care these awards as you do.
How many more hate threads and posts about Mcdormand are you gonna create? Embarrassing and childish.
