Everyone speculates on how swiftly this inevitable win will happen. But I doubt her performance will eclipse her competitors. Her 3rd win was about nod count and 29 years since Sophie’s Choice.

Well, if she sticks around long enough, I think a 4th win would be inevitable. In 2032 it will be 20 years since her 3rd win, she’ll be 83. She could win in supporting maybe.

She’s going to win again. Most likely in the leading category. I don’t think she’s have to wait that long. Probably 2022 maybe, 10 years after her win the The Iron Lady. She proved that she doesn’t need all of the precursors to win so as long as she wins the golden globe for something she has a huge chance of winning

If she gives an amazing performance in a Best Picture nominated film, then I think people will vote for her

I think Katharine Hepburn will remain the only actor, living or dead, with 4 Oscars. Forever and ever.

I think they’ll give Meryl another one just for respect. She’s gonna get at least 30 nominations in her career

She’ll be the only actress with 4 lead wins.

No one deserves a win based solely on nod count, but that doesn’t necessarily mean she won’t win again. Given the right lead role, or a suffering mom/wife supporting role, she could definitely win again within the next 10-20 years.

Based on work, sure. Not “nod count.”

I don’t know about her noms, but Meryl is certainly winning again. Whether it’s lead or supporting, we don’t know. She’s too beloved to not get a 4th. She would actually need 6 Oscars to beat Katharine Hepburn’s record in Lead wins.

And how ironic that M makes this thread.

well, it’s kinda weird “only” having 3 oscars out of 21. and she could have already had her 4th of 5th because she had the performances to it.

I think she will at least tie Hepburn eventually cause she’s becoming the legend based on hype. not necessarily from the best performance, but when her narrative prevails and that could take a few more years til she’s “let’s give her the record before she dies” old
