But Jessica doesn’t need expansion cause she is a co-lead with Paul already in the book until the time jump (she doesn’t have much to do after sadly).

Yeah I don’t really think I meant expansion. Just like, focus/emphasis. Especially because the script seems to be working hard to expand on the characters Paul is closest with (particularly Gurney and Duncan) and emphasize character & relationships.

But also, yes…the others do have some showy scenes so maybe that just stayed with some folks. Skaarsgard and Isaac do both have some very toothsome scenes in terms of performance. ba dum tss

    From Dastmachian’s AV club interview:

DD: I get to be a part of what is [Villeneueve’s] greatest achievement yet in cinema. I think it’s one of the best films I’ve ever seen in my life, and I think that it’s a piece of cinema history. And I don’t think anyone has ever seen a film like this before, I don’t think they will ever see a film like it after. I think that it’s, visually and emotionally, just unprecedented. And it’s also really fun, which is quite an achievement because it’s, you know, just such a vast galaxy that he’s created, and it’s a blast.

So this is the third person I’ve seen to call it Villeneuve’s greatest movie (including Denis!), honestly if it lives up to a fraction of the hype it’ll be the best blockbuster of the year.

I know actors can be hyperbolic about their projects, but the levels of excitement and pride and awe coming from the DUNE cast so far seems so genuine. It has me almost more excited than anything else.

Just dropping this here because I think it’s great. DUNE has “no mass appeal” indeed. Buying the TotalFilm special preview now and can’t wait to read.

Wow haven’t been on this thread yet but you guys maybe need to…….bring this energy to the BP thread lol. This all makes me take Dune even more seriously and I have it at no. 2 already!

Justice for Passing, Tessa Thompson & Ruth Negga.

The Power of the Dog / Jane Campion / Benedict Cumberbatch / Kristen Stewart / Kirsten Dunst / Troy Kotsur

Oh man, don’t encourage me to reach my full levels of potential obnoxiousness about how confident I am in DUNE, haha.

Some other bits to share: Guillermo Del Toro stans and more big cast hype from Josh Brolin.

The Japanese trailer has some new shots and HOLY SMOKES look at these VISUALS y’all. STUNNING.

Also I thought the second trailer was great, but I just adore the use of the Floyd cover.

The way this movie looks so much better than Spider-Man

Bill Hader and Barry in everything (2 babka)
The Great - Elle Fanning, Nicholas Hoult and comedy writing and directing

Severance in drama series, writing, Adam Scott for best actor, Ben Stiller for drama directing, and the whole cast in supporting.

I mean I’m no Marvel hater; in fact I quite enjoy pretty much all Marvel material but…there was never a comparison.

Of course, but if people are going to pick one action blockbuster to watch in cinemas this year, it was a toss-up between those two. Similar fanbases.

Yeah. Tonight I’ve seen a number of people label Spiderman as the movie to “get people back to the theaters” while it looks…fine? To me? Look, I’ll see it for Alfred Molina and Willem Dafoe. I just didn’t find anything spectacular about it but boy does that Marvel hype machine do its work.

By the by, the Spider-Man trailer dropped 10 hours ago and it’s already clocked up more than 91 million views.
