I doubt either of them ever wins an Oscar.

Until Lady Bird happened did anyone I doubt anyone ever thought she be an Oscar nominee, much less the frontrunner going into precursors and overall the obvious runnerup her year.

I think Rami Malek is the next person to achieve this. He’s one of the most talented artists of the millennium.

I love being a literate person.

Nothing against people like Rami Malek or Eddie Redmayne who are just doing their jobs (apparently well enough) but they are not in the league of Triple Crown-ers. Not yet at least.

Colman will get an Emmy either this year or definitely next year. Colman has done several theatre roles in London so she could definitely win a Tony if she does Broadway

Globes FYC- Fleabag, Phoebe Waller Bridge, Jodie Comer, Dame Emma Thompson, The Crown

SAG FYC- The Crown, Olivia Colman, Fleabag, PWB

Critics Choice- Schitts Creek, Fleabag, Killing Eve, Bodyguard

    BAFTA- Fleabag, Killing Eve

Oscars FYC ‘Little Women’ ‘Downton Abbey’ ‘Maggie Smith’

Papi Redmayne is one of the most gifted actors of all time and he’ll be very deserving by the time he gets the triple crown.

I know it happened some time ago but I’m shocked that Glenda Jackson didn’t get nominated for “King Lear” at the Tony Awards. Maybe after that elusive win last year there’s no hurry to reward her again?

Jackson, a multi-Tony nominee, has already earned her elusive win. Would have been nice for afterglow recognition but her production received lackluster reviews. Her legacy is cemented now anyway.

Her performance in Three Tall Women was incomparable and so deserved. Was disappointed she was left out of the nominations this year, especially with an extra slot in the category, but it is a highly competitive category this year. And it doesn’t help that the show received lackluster reviews, she won the previous year, and I think people assumed she was a shoo-in this year.

I think Metcalf could win an Oscar if she continues working in films. I just think her general preference (and dominance) in the theater world is the only thing that could hold her back. But she’s definitely a force to be reckoned with. She might have lost the Oscar to Janney but she won the most critics awards that year so she clearly has industry and critic support behind her with the right role.

I believe it was the Little Gold Men podcast that mentioned after Allison Janney won (an actress I adore but didn’t even deserve to be nominated for that performance imo) and while the telecast went to commercial break… there was an eerie sense in the room of, “Ok, what did we just do?” Instant regret for honoring Janney’s career over a career-best performance (and best performance of the year in any category) from Metcalf.

Metcalf’s loss will go down as one of the biggest mistakes in Oscar history, on par with wins from Crash and The King’s Speech. I have to believe she was within in a couple of votes of getting that Oscar.

^^That’s what televised awards do! It was looking nice for Metcalf who won the most from critics but once Janney won Golden Globe, everybody followed suit and it was over before it began. The same happened with Dafoe and Rockwell. I think Janney won with a huge margin because hype around her was very big, not to mention that her film pedigree was far greater than Metcalf’s (4 Best Picture nominees up to that point).

Bryan Cranston is now multiple Emmy AND Tony winner. He has sole Oscar nomination for “Trumbo” and it’s easy to see him prevailing for a better received movie.

Alan Arkin could join the TCA since he’s the front-runner for The Kominsky Method.

Lupita for a nomination. Renee for a win. That's it.

She workshopped Emma Thompson’s stage adaptation of Nanny McPhee. Thompson is still working in the songs but she said if Colman is free when the show is ready they hope she will do it.
