She workshopped Emma Thompson’s stage adaptation of Nanny McPhee. Thompson is still working in the songs but she said if Colman is free when the show is ready they hope she will do it.

That would be lovely. I gotta believe that after Oscar she can headline any project, especially as promising as this one.

Denzel Washington is bringing the rest of August Wilson’s Pittsburgh Cycle plays to Netflix. If he is featured in any, he can win his Emmy.

Definitely. TV Academy’s been waiting with baited breath for him to get off his high horse and do a TV project for once after the super stardom.

Colman will get an Emmy either this year or definitely next year. Colman has done several theatre roles in London so she could definitely win a Tony if she does Broadway

Same with Mahershala Ali. He’s probably winning his Emmy this year for True Detective. And it won’t be hard for him to get his Broadway role.

^^Maybe he wins but at the moment I think it will be Jared Harris for “Chernobyl”.

Cool for Denzel, he deserves that achievement. I wonder if Viola Davis will join him.

As expected Alan Arkin is up for an Emmy for his performance on “The Kominsky Method”. If he wins, he will achieve Triple Crown of Acting. The show only got 3 nominations, though (Douglas, Arkin, sound mixing) so I would not say he’s the frontrunner unless 3 stars of “Barry” – new nominees but regulars on the show, Anthony Carrigan and Stephen Root, plus defending champion Henry Winkler – cancel each other out and the Academy decides that Tonys (Hale and Shalhoub) won enough.

Jessica Lange and Viola Davis extend their Emmy record.

Lange was the only nomination this year for “American Horror Story: Apocalypse” after the show was moved to drama section of the awards due to storylines presented in earlier installments. She plays Constance Langdon, the role which earned her an Emmy back in 2012. It’s the first nomination for Lange in a drama series categories – she’s nominated in guest actress line-up. It’s her 9th Emmy nomination, just 2 behind record holder Helen Mirren, and 16th TCA nod, also 2 nominations behind Mirren as well as Maggie Smith.

Viola Davis earns fifth consecutive nomination for playing Annalise Keating although last year she was snubbed for “How to Get Away with Murder” and was nominated as guest actress in “Scandal” instead. This year she returned to the main category. No doubt it was possible with only Sandra Oh eligible to return from last year’s line-up. Glynn Turman and Cicely Tyson were also nominated for their guest performances. It’s Viola’s 5th Emmy nomination and 11th TCA nomination.

If Michelle Willams doesnt win The Emmy for Fosse/Verdon, she Will have lost all her bids for Triple Crown.

I know Lynn Redgrave also lost all her nominations.

Anyone else was nominated for The three Awards (at least once each) and didnt won any?

she’ll never do American theater…it seems like she doesn’t even come to the US for press, and she missed the Globes the first time she won.

Never say never. Her hesitation to do an American theater production may entirely be about not uprooting her children from their lives abroad. She’s young enough to position herself for Tony bids in the latter half of her career. Look at Elaine May, Glenda Jackson, and Cicely Tyson.
