I think Leslie is pretty much locked to win Best Original Song at the Oscars so that will get him closer. He would just need an Emmy.

Closer to EGOT but not the Triple Crown.

Oh yes thanks for the correction. It totally slipped from me that the Oscar win needs to be in acting. Well regardless he’ll be 2/4 towards EGOT, let’s hope he wins he’s extremely talented.

Nominations yes, because she would have 24 nominations but wins she would tie Dame Maggie Smith with 7.

Another reason why Legend Close needs to win the Oscar. ❤️

On her 9th nomination, yes. Although I’m worried this is probably her last chance.

I so want her to be an Oscar winner, but don’t want her extraordinary career to be reduced to a punchline b/c of a win for HE.

She can still win the Oscar in this unpredictable year. But even if she loses, if Sunset Boulevard becomes a strong contender she will definitely win for that film.

And I disagree with you, I do not think her career would be reduced because of HE by any means. Close’s character was so moving and inspiring and while the film was trashed by the critics, almost all of them praised her performance. You may not like her performance, but that doesn’t mean it’s a bad performance. She did an outstanding job and reminded me of my own grandma. It was a very inspirational performance. If she wins it would be deserved although many people will only see it as a career win.

To clarify, I liked her performance! She reminded me a lot of my great-aunt who I adored. I think she’s worthy of a nomination, but I personally prefer Youn for the win.

She’s just gotten so much hate for her nominations this season, and I’m scared to see how nasty it would get if she actually pulled off the upset.

Well I respect that you’re rooting for Youn but Glenn Close winning would not be an upset since there’s no clear front runner in this category. And don’t worry us her stans and even Glenn herself is now used to the hate. The detractors just can’t stand the idea legend Close might be finally be winning this year.

Well, Bakalova snatched a lot of critics awards, including Critics’ Choice Movie Award. We used to put the kind of film she’s in against her but she was nominated pretty much everywhere (including juried-BAFTA where Colman and Close seemed to be more likely to get in) and the film itself performed very well. I don’t think there’s a performance like that among Oscar winners so let’s see… SAG will be very telling because BAFTA, this year, has limited influence and Golden Globes went with Jodie Foster who’s not nominated for an Oscar. Certainly the most intriguing acting race in many years.

Yes, very open and exciting race. I’m personally rooting for Glenn but I can see any of the 5 ladies winning. Very strong lineup.

Frances McDormand won Best Actress Oscar for a third time. She’s now a joint-record holder with Ingrid Bergman.

Not really. Once the precursors sheepishly included her in their slates with the exception of BAFTA which isn’t reflective of their entire voter body this year. And the scare of her Razzie nod before the Oscar announcements — she had a good sense the right person won. The Foster Globe win and the Critics Choice cosign for the Borat starlet were avoiding the inevitable about the category. I think Colman, Close and the eventual winner were what conservative voters bodies leaned to in the final tallies.

BAFTA still would not have nominated Close under the old system. She didnt even get nominated for Albert Nodds or Fatal Attractions there so she would not be making it in for that Razzie film. Close was a pipedream win after we all saw how the lead acting winners defeating strong narratives. She most likely finished in 4th.

    Michelle Williams Oscar campaign manager.
