Elvis Presley starred in 31 films between 1956 and 1969. All but four of them were musicals.
Over time, Elvis became frustrated over both the increasingly poor quality of his films and the reluctance of studios to cast him in more dramatic roles. After the last of his studio contracts expired, he never did another film again (not counting two concert documentaries released in 1970 and 1972, respectively).
That being said, could you see Elvis successfully transitioning into a dramatic actor had the studios actually given him a chance? And if so, which movies can you see him doing? Can you see him becoming an Oscar nominee, or winner? Can you see him living longer (or shorter) as a result of transitioning to Hollywood? And finally, if you can see him living longer, what post-1977 movies can you see him doing?
ReplyFun fact: Elvis lobbied for the role of Tom Hagen in The Godfather. In the end, Robert Duvall was cast (and earned his first Oscar nomination for his performance).

I couldtotally see him doing better movies (even though I love all the ones he did tbh). I hink he would have lived longer tbh.
