Yorgos Lanthimos will be directing Emma Stone in Searchlight’s adaption of a Bride of Frankenstein-esque book Poor Things. It’ll start filming in the fall. The plot for Emma’s second Oscar:

Their first collaboration went really well so this looks promising.

I love Yorgo’s, I think his movies are unique and… let’s call them interesting. He’s one of my favourite directs, I’m excited for this especially since The Favourite is so good.

I’ll never understand why filmmakers like Lanthimos and Chazelle are obsessed with Emma Stone. She’s not that good as an actress compared to many of her age range (Ronan, Pugh, Lawrence, Robbie, Johansson, DeArmas, etc..).

Trust me Yorgos, there are so many better and more bankable actresses out there than her.

Glad to see Tony McNamara back with Yorgos! His work on The Favourite and The Great has been PHENOMENAL, and I think his style/tone complements Lanthimos’ perfectly. This concept would have me worried in anyone else’s hands, but McNamara’s involvement assures me this’ll be good.

Trust me Yorgos, there are so many more natural and more formally trained.

Please. You don’t like her but that doesn’t she is not better among these. Emma stone is incredibly talented and will be perfect for this movie.

They were also supposed to shoot a short film together. Don’t know what came of that but anyway, very excited for this. She’s one of the best actors working today and I’m so pumped for what she does with this role.

Edit: Already seeing the haters come out oop

More Lanthimos is good news. Not enthusiastic about Stone becoming his J-Law despite actually liking her in The Favourite.

So Yorgos’ Pop. 1280 adaptation is dead then? But well, I’ll take what I get. This man is an evil genius.

    FYC:

Lead Actor: Mads Mikkelsen (Another Round)

Supporting Actress: Maria Bakalova (Borat Subsequent Moviefilm)

Supporting Actor: Paul Raci (Sound of Metal)

Because this is a comedic film and she’s the only one who proven she can convincingly sell pure slapstick comedy (see her 5 SNL hosting gigs), even Yorgos said he wanting her for The Favourite after seeing Easy A.

Can she do a Scottish accent though? It (like Irish) have been massacred so many times by Americans on screen, I really don’t want anyone whose don’t Julie Walters to even attempt it.

That’s okay, they can have her. These 2 directors are not at the level of a David O’Russell or PTA when it comes to awards anyway…Chazelle’s second collaboration with Gosling was a big flop at the box office and award ceremonies, so it’s not like everything he touches is gold. And we will see how Yorgos’ next does.
