This year, Glenn Close became added to the unique list of individuals who have received both Oscar and Razzie nominations for acting (and she’s now among the even rarer group of individuals to receive both nominations for the same performance). I’ve always known that a lot of actors have gotten nominated for both Oscars and Razzies over their career, and many have won at least one or the other; a few have even won both. So I decided to research this and find every actor who’s ever received Oscar and Razzie nominations for specifically acting. That means the following list below won’t include people like Ben Affleck, Mel Gibson, or Kristen Wiig for example, because while they have been nominated for both types of awards, none of their Oscar nominations have ever been acting-related. Ultimately, I found out that a total of 151 individuals have received acting nominations at the Oscars and Razzies. And here they all are in alphabetical order. Some names may surprise you, others definitely will not:

March 27, 2021 at 7:52 am #1204160928Yep. This was his post-Apocalypse Now period, where he basically just said, “Screw it. I’m just here for the money,” which he openly admitted to many times when asked why he was in these films. He received three Worst Supporting Actor nominations for The Formula, Christopher Columbus: The Discovery, and The Island Of Dr. Moreau, winning for the third one.

Yeah, it’s one of the most baffling nominations ever, along with all the nominations for The Shining and Harvey Keitel’s Worst Supporting Actor nomination for The Last Temptation Of Christ. I actually like Lawrence’s performance in Mother! more than her actual Oscar-winning performance in Silver Linings Playbook.

Into the water, into the truth, in your reflection, he lives in you.March 27, 2021 at 7:43 pm #1204161907Wasn’t there talk during that Oscar season that Jupiter Ascending would be Redmayne’s Norbit?
Yeah, there was. I guess the difference between him and Eddie Murphy was that Redmayne’s performance in Jupiter Ascending was “so bad, it’s good”, while Murphy’s performance in Norbit was “so bad, it’s morally offensive.”

I know right. I was not a fan of like Lawrence’s Oscar win but in mother! she showed range and it’s the first time I was impressed by her performance.( I haven’t seen Winter’s Bone)
ReplyCopy URLMarch 28, 2021 at 12:30 am #1204162142Eddie murphy’s probably the only one who’s razzie role likely caused an oscar win
ReplyCopy URLMarch 28, 2021 at 1:07 am #1204162180The Razzies, and its f(l)ounder John J.B. Wilson, can go f^ck off already…
