This year, Glenn Close became added to the unique list of individuals who have received both Oscar and Razzie nominations for acting (and she’s now among the even rarer group of individuals to receive both nominations for the same performance). I’ve always known that a lot of actors have gotten nominated for both Oscars and Razzies over their career, and many have won at least one or the other; a few have even won both. So I decided to research this and find every actor who’s ever received Oscar and Razzie nominations for specifically acting. That means the following list below won’t include people like Ben Affleck, Mel Gibson, or Kristen Wiig for example, because while they have been nominated for both types of awards, none of their Oscar nominations have ever been acting-related. Ultimately, I found out that a total of 145 individuals have received acting nominations at the Oscars and Razzies. And here they all are in alphabetical order. Some names may surprise you, others definitely will not:
Robert De Niro
Robert Downey, Jr.
Cuba Gooding, Jr.
Louis Gossett, Jr.
Richard E. Grant
Marcia Gay Harden
Mary Tyler Moore
George C. Scott
Kristin Scott Thomas
Lesley Ann Warren
As I said before, many of these individuals did go on to win at least 1 Oscar or 1 Razzie, but only 11 of these individuals actually ended up winning 1 of both for their acting. And those people are:
Which of these names do you find most and least surprising? Share your thoughts below.March 27, 2021 at 7:49 am #1204160922
I had no idea Marlon Brando was even nominated.March 27, 2021 at 7:52 am #1204160928
Yep. This was his post-Apocalypse Now period, where he basically just said, “Screw it. I’m just here for the money,” which he openly admitted to many times when asked why he was in these films. He received three Worst Supporting Actor nominations for The Formula, Christopher Columbus: The Discovery, and The Island Of Dr. Moreau, winning for the third one.March 27, 2021 at 8:37 am #1204160961
Jennifer lawrence was oscar worthy in mother! The fact that she got nominated for a razzie is insulting.March 27, 2021 at 8:53 am #1204160985
Agreed on Lawrence, she was unbelievably excellent in Mother and she was in my Best Actress line up that year along with Mother in Best PictureMarch 27, 2021 at 8:59 am #1204160995
Yup.Lawrence was easily the winner for me that yearMarch 27, 2021 at 10:16 am #1204161100
Anjelica Huston has made their long list before but never actually got the nomination.March 27, 2021 at 11:37 am #1204161339

Yeah, it’s one of the most baffling nominations ever, along with all the nominations for The Shining and Harvey Keitel’s Worst Supporting Actor nomination for The Last Temptation Of Christ. I actually like Lawrence’s performance in Mother! more than her actual Oscar-winning performance in Silver Linings Playbook.March 27, 2021 at 5:04 pm #1204161789
Wasn’t there talk during that Oscar season that Jupiter Ascending would be Redmayne’s Norbit?March 27, 2021 at 7:02 pm #1204161872
Literally every big name on acting with few exceptions
For Your Emmy Consideration:
Matthew Rhys for "Perry Mason" as Leading Actor in a Drama Series
Ethan Hawke for "The Good Lord Bird" as Leading Actor in a Limited Series
Elizabeth Olsen and Kathryn Hahn for "Wandavision" as Leading and Supporting actress in Limited Series
Tobias Menzies for "The Crown" as Supporting Actor in a Drama Series.
MJ Rodriguez for "Pose" as Leading Actress in a Drama Series.March 27, 2021 at 7:43 pm #1204161907

Yeah, there was. I guess the difference between him and Eddie Murphy was that Redmayne’s performance in Jupiter Ascending was “so bad, it’s good”, while Murphy’s performance in Norbit was “so bad, it’s morally offensive.”March 27, 2021 at 8:13 pm #1204161935
Octavia Spencer might make the list if Thunder Force gets bad reviews lolMarch 27, 2021 at 9:03 pm #1204162004

I know right. I was not a fan of like Lawrence’s Oscar win but in mother! she showed range and it’s the first time I was impressed by her performance.( I haven’t seen Winter’s Bone)March 28, 2021 at 12:30 am #1204162142
Eddie murphy’s probably the only one who’s razzie role likely caused an oscar win
