Until this thread allows for multiple names to be listed, I can’t bother.

It probably changes daily, but for now I’ll go with Altman.

You can pick multiple directors if you have more than one favorite 🙂

    Three directors standout for me.

Spielberg, whose films defined my childhood and my early love of film.

Hayao Miyazaki, the most creative and visually interesting storyteller in the business.

And Akira Kurosawa, the director most responsible for my love of foreign films, opening me up the the wonderful world of Japanese cinema, and the wonderful world of samurai films.

Thank you. Thank you for all three.

I would say Tarantino and Scorsese. I would have said PTA but I really hated his last 3 films.

I’d probably go Hayao Miyazaki. He has a really consistent filmography, made a lot of the best animated movies of all time, has a lot of the most visually gorgeous films of all time, and has this really compassionate humanist approach to his film’s content. Spirited Away and Princess Mononoke are top 10 all time movies for me, and Ponyo is perhaps my favourite comfort food movie. Nausicaa, Porco Rosso – those are also classics.

    For Your Consideration:

Best Picture: Weathering With You, Parasite, The Lighthouse
Best Supporting Actor: Willem Dafoe - The Lighthouse
Best Animated Feature: Weathering With You, Promare
Best International Film: Weathering With You, Parasite

Guillermo Del Toro is another favorite of mine. Don’t love him quite as much as Cuaron but he’s excellent indeed.
