…and Ammonite.

I honestly wouldn’t be surprised if Ammonite was left out. I thought it was okay, but compared to these films?

On Awardsworthy forums, a poster claiming to be a member said that Pieces of a Woman was eligible, seen and they just didn’t vote for it.

    I’d treat that with caution.

Wasn’t there an article on here saying how both Pieces of a Woman and The White Tiger (both of which were picked up from festivals and have been screened in front of some but not all critics) are ineligible for a lot of these awards due to their release dates?

FYC: Together in all categories (Actress – Sharon Horgan, Actor – James McAvoy, Original Screenplay), Shiva Baby (Adapted Screenplay, Score), CODA (in all categories esp. S. Actor – Troy Kotsur), Zola (S. Actress – Riley Keough), Together Together (Original Screenplay), The Sparks Brothers (Documentary Feature), Summer of Soul (Documentary Feature)

    Bo Burnham, Promising Young Woman

He was great but I’m shocked he popped up (and I say this as the no.1 fan of the film on here).

But based on release dates Pieces of a Woman should be eligible lol. It gets qualyfing release starting in December. And we know for certain it was eligible for Boston as well.

It’s being released on January 7th.

But anyway it’s weird. We defo know however it was ineligible for Indiewire lol. Maybe they’re deliberately ignoring it because of Shia? Maybe it hasn’t been widely seen yet (wide screenings outside of Toronto and Venice did only start recently which isn’t the case with either Nomadland or Promising Young Woman)? Maybe it’s ineligible?

Edited before you responded, but it gets qualifying release in theaters starting in December, so that should’ve made it eligible.

Then I don’t have an answer to your question lol.

If it continues to be the case that it gets ignored I’d start getting worried but it’s very early still. After all we just saw Carey Mulligan snubbed at Indiewire but then not only get in here but get in with Bo Burnham so I think with all films (regardless of what they are) these critics awards are going to be hectic and won’t be useful in deciphering “what to rule out” and “not”. Like they snubbed the S. Actress frontrunner lol.
