I must confess it is my #2 personal favorite movie of the year (behind SOUL) – guilty!ReplyCopy URLEdgar Pereira

To Be AnnouncedJanuary 19, 2021 at 1:06 pm #1203991882Not sure what to make of all the Oldman snubs. I have a feeling he’ll do better with the industry but at the same time this is showing that voting bodies have no qualms about leaving Oldman off their lists, and that’s without Washington or Stanfield in the mix.

It’s not as if the critics lists are also shutting out Mank either. Seyfried is 3rd in her category in presence at these awards.
Whilst I found Oldman to be very good (he doesn’t make my personal lineup though) in Mank I think what really hurts him is that his performance will be met divisively because of the nature of his character. Older members of the Academy may be impressed but I have a feeling younger members might not be taken so much by his performance.

Acting branch is not touching that movie. If I’m not mistaken, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind was the last Kaufman movie to be truly embraced by the Academy.
