In this thread post the all time film not in the English language film nominees snubs in above the line categories that you think shouldn’t have happened.

    A few of mine :

    A Separation (2011)

Snubbed in : Best Picture, Best Director (Asghar Farhadi), Best Actress (Leila Hatami), Best Actor (Payman Maadi), Best Supporting Actress (Sareh Bayat)

Should Have Won : Best Actress, Best Original Screenplay (which it was nominated for!)

    Parastie (2019)

Snubbed in : Best Supporting Actor (Song Kang-Ho), Best Actress (Cho Yeo-jeong), Best Supporting Actress (Lee Jung-eun)

Should Have Won : Best Supporting Actor

    Toni Erdmann (2016)

Snubbed in : Best Picture, Director (Maren Ade), Actress (Sandra Huller), Actor (Peter Simonischek), Original Screenplay, Costume Design, Hair and Makeup

Should Have Won : Actress, Actor, Original Screenplay

FYC OSCARS : VANESSA KIRBY FOR "PIECES OF A WOMAN", GLENN CLOSE FOR "HILLBILLY ELEGY", ANTHONY HOPKINS FOR "THE FATHER", CHADWICK BOSEMAN FOR "MA RAINEY'S BLACK BOTTOM", PROMISING YOUNG WOMAN (BEST ORIGINAL SCREENPLAY).

    The Handmaiden (2016)
    Should have been nominated for:

    • Best Foreign Language Film*
    • Best Picture
    • Best Director, Park Chan-wook
    • Best Adapted Screenplay, Park Chan-wook and Chung Seo-kyung
    • Best Actress, Kim Min-hee
    • Best Cinematography
    • Best Costume Design
    • Best Original Score
    • Best Production Design

Portrait of a Lady on Fire (2019)
    Should have been nominated for:

    •  Best International Feature Film*
    • Best Picture
    • Best Director, Céline Sciamma
    • Best Original Screenplay, Céline Sciamma
    • Best Actress, Adèle Haenel (and considering last year’s lineup, I would also give Noémie Merlant a nomination)
    • Best Cinematography
    • Best Costume Design
    • Best Production Design

*Both of them would have likely been nominees in the Foreign Film category if their countries had decided to submit them.
