ASIB is loved by all the US guilds.

    This surprised me tbh.

    Costume Design Guild has announced their nominations;

    Contemporary Film
“Crazy Rich Asians” – Mary E. Vogt
“Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again” – Michele Clapton
    “Ocean’s 8” – Sarah Edwards
“A Star Is Born” – Erin Benach
    “Widows” – Jenny Eagan

    Period Film
    “BlacKkKlansman” – Marci Rodgers
    “Bohemian Rhapsody” – Julian Day
    “The Favourite” – Sandy Powell
“Mary Poppins Returns” – Sandy Powell
“Mary Queen of Scots” – Alexandra Byrne

    Sci-Fi / Fantasy Film
    “Aquaman” – Kym Barrett
“The Avengers: Infinity War” – Judianna Makovsky
“Black Panther” – Ruth E. Carter
“The Nutcracker and the Four Realms” – Jenny Beavan
“A Wrinkle in Time” – Paco Delgado

Hoping Mary E Vogt wins for Crazy Rich Asians and Sandy Powell for Mary Poppins Returns. Honestly I have only seen one of the Sci-Fi/Fantasy Film nominees and have no opinion there. I expect Vogt to win, Ruth E Carter for Black Panther, and Sandy Powell but for The Favourite instead of MPR. All 3 will get Oscar nominations, along with Powell for MPR and Alexandra Byrne for Mary, Queen of Scots.

Really weird to see The Favourite miss a Makeup and Hairstyling nomination at the guild.

And the 11/11 guilds nominations for ASIB really came out of nowhere, it may only win PGA if it’s lucky.

Not that surprising considering it missed the Oscar shortlist as well…..

I have changed my predictions to Black Panther, Bohemian Rhapsody and Vice.

I always get this category wrong! Stan & Ollie did really well with their guild, Mary, Queen of Scots deserves to be nominated, and I still think Border could be this year’s A Man Called Ove and The Egnlishman Who Went Up The Hill out of nowhere nominee. Even Suspiria could get a lone nomination at the Oscars in this category! Good grief! (:

Reverse Shot’s annual 11 Offenses is here and it’s all kinds of wonderful. The worst films of 2018 are eviscerated.

I must say, I’m partial to the takedowns of Vice, Suspiria, and A Quiet Place.
