Do you agree with Glenn Close’s statement?

    BEST ACTRESS 1999

Gwyneth Paltrow in Shakespeare in Love [WINNER]
    Cate Blanchett in Elizabeth
    Fernanda Montenegro in Central Station
Meryl Streep in One True Thing
Emily Watson in Hilary and Jackie

How would you rank the nominees of 1999?

Central Station is available to watch for free on Youtube

That shade, my god. I’m dead. Glenn really doesn’t give a f*ck. And I love it…

Yes, Fernanda definitely should’ve won. I have yet to watch One True Thing and Hilary & Jackie, but Fernanda easily wins this for me between the others. Gwyneth winning please…

I mean did she lie? Did she fcking lie?

I like Gwyneth but she literally was the worst out of the lineup. It was a cute performance but not oscar worthy oop.

By the way, Fernanda thanked Glenn on her instagram earlier today.

Nope, it should have been a tie between her and Watson. Watson’s scene at the end still leaves me speechless.

She deserved it more than Paltrow and even more than Blanchett. Haven’t seen the other two nominees.

Fernanda, Cate, and Emily were all great! Any of them would’ve made a worthy winner. I rank Cate above Fernanda though. If Fernanda is still an Academy member then I hope she votes for Glenn!

I get the feeling that Glenn is a fan of foreign language films. I remember she also praised Capernaum.

Where did she say this? Watched all of this and I would’ve voted for Montenegro too.

I just love movies. And awards.

    Where did she say this?

On a interview with Peter Travers for ABC News. She said (sort of):

“I remember that year Gwyneth Paltrow won over that amazing actress from Central Station. It just doesn’t make any sense.”
