Update: Fernanda Montenegro says she would’ve give the Oscar to Cate Blanchett

It's about the chaotic editing in Moulin Rouge!

Meh. She’s too modest. Blanchett was great but she’s been even better since, and for my money Emily Watson’s Jacqueline du Pré is the close 2nd to Montenegro.

Goop was better winner than Blachett would’ve been tho.

That’s awesome, and I agree totally! That was Cate’s best performance. She was still in her 20s at the time, and for her to deliver such a strong performance at a young age was quite impressive.

If you watched Central Do Brasil (Central Station) you know how good Montenegro…I meant you are rooting for a woman that tried to sell a child and that speak volumes of Montenegro’s performance.

    My ranking of the nominees:

    1-Fernanda Montenegro

    2-Cate Blanchett

3-Emily Watson (who should have won for Breaking The Waves)

    4-Gwinneth Paltrow

    5-Meryl Strepp

The Oscar needs to get rid of the preferential ballot so it can name a deserving movie as Best Picture again.

To me this is a bit extreme. I can think of worse winners, including the one that preceded her.

Helen Hunt for As Good as It Gets? You need a reality check.

I mean…she’s definitely not the worst winner ever but she wasn’t nowhere near being the best of her line up.

I cannot decide whether Helen Hunt or Gwyneth Paltrow is the all-time worst winner.

I haven’t seen Central Station from that lineup either, is it similar to something like Roma?

No. It’s nothing like Roma. Like…at all. I would say its a bit similar to The Life Ahead since it has an older woman and a kid as leads but the story and acting are a billion times better.

    It’s just an opinion. Chill.
