Im gonna take out the prom for everybodys talking about jamie. Its a musical, A British production, and could be a late contender to the party.

Plus Searchlight doesn’t have any push in comedy right now (unless they decide for a late season revival of Downhill, lol) and E. Grant is in prime afterglow period to get a 2nd nom in a weird ass supporting actor year.

Take out KStew….she’s not bad in Happiest Season but not strong enough to overcome that unfortunate twilight bias

It’s so ****ing ridiculous that this bias exists for her and not Pattinson. Her material against Moore is the strongest parts of Still Alice, she’s an absolute darling of international cinema cinema, and is proven herself multiple times to be a terrific comedic actor (SNL, Charlie’s Angels, Happiest Season). For god sakes, she’s the ONLY American to win the Cesar. Ever.

R-Patz does one FilmBro picture (Good Times) that nobody sees and everybody simps over him.

K-Stew signs on to play the Princess of Wales and the pitchforks are out.

Hope she gets the Globe for HS and gets the ball rollin on the (hopeful) hit that Spencer will be and FINALLY get rid of this “OMG K-Stew is lifeless and a bad actor” rep. Basically

    Happiest Season = Magic Mike
    Spencer = Dallas Buyers Club

    It’s what’s she deserves.

    K-Stew

    Happiest1

    Spencer

Pattinson really gave one of the finest performances of last year in that movie while Stewart gave one of the most embarrassing performances of last year in Charlie’s Angels. Her bad reputation might be harsh but it’s definitely not unearned.

    FYC:

Lead Actor: Mads Mikkelsen (Another Round)

Supporting Actress: Maria Bakalova (Borat Subsequent Moviefilm)

Supporting Actor: Paul Raci (Sound of Metal)

Pattinson has his own set of duds. Stewart has phenomenal performances too- Clouds of Sils Maria and Personal Shopper. Let’s be real- her bad reputation is a product of the most basic sort of misogyny. Pattinson managed to shed some of the Twilight stigma because he openly trashed the franchise, and people like him because it’s cool to hate on the thing that teenage girls like. Stewart got the Twilight label slapped on her, and then was vilified by tabloids and the gp (and fucking Donald Trump) for her private life and for “cheating” on Pattinson in a PR relationship forced onto the two of them for promo.

    FYC:

Best Director - Lee Isaac Chung (Minari), Darius Marder (Sound of Metal)

Lead Actor - Delroy Lindo (Da 5 Bloods), Mads Mikkelsen (Another Round), Riz Ahmed (Sound of Metal)

Supporting Actor - Paul Raci (Sound of Metal)

Supporting Actress - Youn Yuh-jung (Minari)

NGL the only thing I’ve seen Stewart in is Snow White and the Huntsman so I don’t feel confident about her acting talents.

Although I am watching Seberg this weekend so that may change.

on Pattinson in a PR relationship forced onto the two of them for promo.

She might end up being excellent as the Princess of Wales then lol.

I do feel confident about her delivering as Diana. Especially after watching her Kimmel interview. However that film does not look good and to schedule it whilst Debicki is stepping into The Crown and Corrin potentially is winning for the definitive portrayal of Lady Di is not good.

That’s actually a pretty good poster. But the release of this is exceptionally poor timing.

Each Diana casting decision (well we know Corrin is excellent in the role) seems to be like a massive chef’s kiss lol.

If only that Diana film with Naomi Watts was actually good or cast someone who actually looked or acted like her lol.

Comparing a TV show to a Movie is completely ridiculous. Especially when The Crown is going on a year hiatus and Spencer probably won’t premiere until Venice 2021.

It still doesn’t help Stewart that Emma Corrin will still be in the conversation because she’ll be competing for the Emmy win around the same time Spencer is released at Venice or Toronton (if it goes to or arrives in time for either).

Not really? It will have been nearly a year since The Crown premiered, people will have moved on by then. IF Emma Corrin comes any where near a nomination let alone a win, good for her but I doubt a nobody actress will dampen people’s enthusiasm for a Pablo Larrain directed Diana biopic starring one of the most outlandish recent castings in a post covid Venice premiere.

Lol have you seen the Emmy field this year. I’m pretty sure they’re not snubbing the most popular aspect of a show that is likely to be one of the top 2/3 Drama Series frontrunners. If not the Drama Series winner.

but I doubt a nobody actress will dampen people’s enthusiasm for a Pablo Larrain directed Diana biopic starring one of the most outlandish recent castings in a post covid Venice premiere.

Well what I think people are trying to say is that the expectation will be high for Stewart. Corrin (regardless of what you think of her being a newcomer) has given the definitive performance of Princess Diana on screen. Just like Golden Globe and Emmy winner Claire Foy gave the definitive performance of the Queen (at least in her non pensioner years) on screen. The Crown is a widely watched programme (especially this season) and comparisons will be drawn between Corrin and Stewart which can hurt Stewart’s awards chances. Of course K-Stew could be good but it will be a bigger mountain to climb.

The Lithgow-Oldman comparisons made earlier on are irrelevant. Churchill has been portrayed so many times on screen and is nowhere near as remembered or beloved a figure as Diana was.

I can see poor timing occurring if Corrin wins the Emmy (which I agree is a big if) because that would happen roughly around the same time of Venice and Toronto (assuming Spencer goes to either).

How exactly is On The Rocks in 1st first in the Odds list? That film is DOA. Borat, Palm Springs and Promising Young Woman are clearly ahead of On The Rocks.
