Guys, serious question, do you feel sure Michelle Pfeiffer is getting nominated? I took her out for a while and put her back in because the category started getting emptier, but now i feel like there is zero reason to nominate her.
French Exit has no public/critic interest, the only nomination it has received for something is Best Supporting Actress at the Spirits, which is a huge shocker, besides that no one cares about it, i know the category is super empty, but even with that being the only reason to put her in i can’t see why would they nominate her.
I really wanna see the movie tho, i adore Michelle and i’m sure she’s fantastic in it.
January 26, 2021 at 5:47 pm #1204004076Any predictions for original song?
The past decade can generally be spilt up into three categories; musicals; famous people; hit singles; songs from nominated films
Songs from nominated films
- Speak Now (One Night in Miami)
- Hear My Voice (The Trial of the Chicago 7)
- Wuhan Flu (Borat)
- Save Me (Mank)
- Last Laugh / Uh Oh (Promising Young Woman)
- Fight For You (Judas and the Black Messiah)
- Wear Your Crown (The Prom)
- Identical (On the Rocks)
- Lo Si (The Life Ahead)
- Husavik (Eurovision)
- Make You Mine This Season (Happiest Season)
- Boss Bitch (Birds of Prey)
Famous people
- Travis Scott – The Plan (Tenet)
- Doja Cat – Boss Bitch (Birds of Prey)
- Sabrina Carptener – Let Me Move You (Work It)
Musicals
- Wear Your Crown (The Prom)
- Just Sing (Trolls)
- Rocket to the Moon (Over the Moon)
Hit singles
- Boss Bitch (Birds of Prey)
- Husavik (Eurovision)
Right now I’d rank them
01. Speak Now (the frontrunner)
02. Husavik (the challenger)
03. Wear My Voice (the no1curr filler from a BP)
04. Wear Your Crown (the no1curr filler new song from a musical)
05. The Plan (the song to get a famous artist to attend, especially now him and Kylie Jenner are back together, allegedly)
— —
06. Boss Bitch (the hit single)
07. Identical (nominated film)
08. Just Sing (musical + famous person but does anyone care?)
09. Lo Si (the HFPA have no obligation to award Diane and haven’t nom’d since 2010, but she might win the Oscar so can’t count it out)
10. Let Me Move You (you know they’d love the headlines for Carpenter attended, plus the songs a bop + from music legends Stargate)In a perfect world, Poverty Porn would be the runaway favourite.

No
FYC OSCARS : PROMISING YOUNG WOMAN IN ALL CATEGORIES (ESP. ACTRESS – Carey Mulligan AND ORIGINAL SCREENPLAY — EMERALD FENNELL), VANESSA KIRBY FOR "PIECES OF A WOMAN", ESSIE DAVIS FOR "BABYTEETH"
January 26, 2021 at 8:47 pm #1204004345I think you are overthinking the potential nominated black themed films. I wouldn’t bet on any of them. Plus, the last time they had some sort of record of nominees in the same category, they gave it to Bohemian Rhapsody and to add insult to injury, Green Book won on the parallel category. I’m dreading this ceremony already.
January 27, 2021 at 6:13 am #1204004678Variety said they really like Barb and Star Go To Vista Del Mar but apparently it wasn’t submitted at the Globes?
Chris, can you confirm?
Have a great day if you see this!
FYC: Anthony Hopkins- The Father
FYC: Chadwick Boseman - Ma Rainey’s Black BottomMale/Straight/BLM
January 27, 2021 at 11:59 am #1204005258Watch – Trial of Chicago 7, over perform. 🙂 It’ll start its awards season momentum I’ve been talking about.
January 27, 2021 at 12:06 pm #1204005275What would an overperformance for Chicago 7 even be? Picture, Director, Sup. Actor, & Screenplay seem safe. Less certain but top 8 would be Score & Song. Does it just get another actor in?

Pfeiffer wouldn’t be the first person to be nominated for an acting Golden Globe for a movie no one cares about.

The absolute clownery. Seriously, I can’t with HFPA anymore.
January 27, 2021 at 12:47 pm #1204005355I mean sorry, Drama is an objectively correct placement for that movie lmao.
