Getting conflicting reports from credible sources about whether this was the studio or the Globes that decided this, so my anger is directed at… whomever it is that is actually responsible.

It has been clarified that this was indeed the studio, which is worse!

I keep hoping they reward SBC in C/M Actor, so Daniel can snag supporting!

SBC already won Comedy/Musical actor and I think the HFPA will love Chicago 7. I’m predicting it in Drama Film, Supporting Actor and Screenplay. This basic group really loves Sorkin. I’m not even sure Zhao will win Director. Nomadland is the kind of film the HFPA could easily left empty handed.

Hope I’m WRONG about everything I said!

Delaying the Oscars is looking more and more ridiculous with each passing day.

Right?! We still have MONTHS left and i’m tired as fuck of this award season! I don’t care anymore about what wins, just give the awards so i can start obsessing about a new set of films.

I don’t know, films like Boyhood and Moonlight have won in the past, so Nomadland does have a chance at winning, but i understand that it can easily be left out for a more commercial film (C7)

After The Farewell’s and Akwafina’s success last year, I’m surprised by the doubt in Minari. It seems like they purposefully put it in Foreign on dubious grounds just to nominate it, Steven Yeun is an up and coming star domestically as well as internationally, and they know Minari is a strong oscar player. I currently have it in Foreign, Yeun, Youn, and Screenplay, with a chance for Score.

Good point, but Chicago 7 is HFPA bait. Neither Boyhood or Moonlight were competing against an HFPA bait. Boyhood also had the gimmick factor.

The Farewell got two noms… one of which was in the uber-barren comedy/musical actress field. I wouldn’t call that doing well. Thank god Awkwafina won though.

Who are y’all dropping for Yeun? Ahmed? I feel like Boseman, Hopkins, and maybe Lindo are locks, and the HFPA probably would go for Oldman, too.

I dropped Ahmed. I loved Ahmeds performance but I cant see the HFPA liking that movie.
