I think Glenn and Amy might get in, but I don’t see room for the movie in drama. I have defended its uber-negative reviews all season long, but if they affect the movie in any category, then in drama picture. Both BoRhap and Joker had things going in their favor that Hillbilly doesn’t have. That said, I would not at all be shocked if they went that route. Atm, I think Glenn and Score are its safest bets; then Amy; then picture.
January 28, 2021 at 12:47 am #1204006201I’m predicting Glenn in supporting actress.
January 28, 2021 at 12:52 am #1204006207I see you’re also predicting it drama picture. Damn, it makes so much sense. But that would mean three Netflix films in the lineup (Chicago 7 and Mank being the other two), which I find so hard to imagine.
January 28, 2021 at 4:06 am #1204006325I do think Netflix is getting three Picture nominees but I think it will be Da 5 Bloods, Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom and The Trial of the Chicago 7.
FYC Emmys: "The Crown" in all categories, "I May Destroy You" in all categories, "It's a Sin" in all categories, "Small Axe" in all categories, Billie Piper ("I Hate Suzie"), Yvonne Strahovski ("Stateless") and Ruth Wilson ("His Dark Materials")
January 28, 2021 at 4:39 am #1204006357I went over some predictions and some have 4 Netflix movies in Drama.
Chile, that’s not going to happen.
January 28, 2021 at 5:36 am #1204006399After Mads being moved to Drama, for Comedy Actor, I have – Cohen, Samberg, Patel, and Miranda. I don’t know who to slot in for the 5th spot. I don’t wanna this someone to be Davidson or worse – Corden. But knowing HFPA, I don’t believe Odom will be double-nominated.
⭐Best Actress - Carey Mulligan
⭐Best Supporting Actress - Youn Yuh-jung

Maybe farrell from eurovison? Watch it be someone in that fifth spot that no expects.
January 28, 2021 at 5:51 am #1204006416The boring but straightforward call in Drama Film strikes me as Nomadland, Chicago 7, Mank, Ma Rainey, One Night in Miami. There are a lot of competitors for the last 3 slots there though, and the HFPA can be quite dramatic when they have a chance to be, so it’s hard to parse through all the possible outcomes in this category. Mank and ONIM are certainly vulnerable to Judas, Da 5 Bloods, PYW, The Father and News of the World, so it’s basically an educated shot in the dark for those last 2/3 slots I think.
Comedy/ Musical is easier I guess, but almost as tricky for the opposite reason, there being a lack of options. I assume The Prom, Borat and Hamilton are safe (presuming they’re all okay voting for the latter given the decision made to include it at all). On the Rocks and Palm Springs don’t feel safe to me, both striking me as quite minor for the HFPA’s tastes – I’ll probably swap one out for Emma, which I’m surprised is so low in the GD odds.
I don’t think Drama Actor/ Actress or the Supporting categories will vary wildly from the Oscars, aside for Ben-Adir being eligible in Supporting and likely getting in. Similarly in Director, I think Zhao, Fincher, Sorkin and Lee will get in at both, but I think Regina King may get in here but not at the Oscars. Screenplay will probably be dictated by what gets in in Drama Film, again Chicago 7 and Nomadland are probably in good shape, then take your pick out of PYW, Mank, The Father, Ma Rainey, ONIM, Soul, Minari, News of the World, Judas, On the Rocks, Borat, etc.

Oh, yeah, he can be a surprise nominee. I actually liked Eurovision more than The Prom.

I did too and Eurovision seems like a movie the globes would love. I know people are skeptical about it but I think it has a good chance here.

Did The Midnight Sky have an original song? Or is it a joke because of the Miley Cyrus track?

I thought it was the original song? I may be crazy because I haven’t listened to the song or seen the film lol.
I’m just gonna walk out of this thread in embarrassment…

Tbh I had the same thought when I first heard the song, it’s a fair mistake to make.
The way Miley would be sweeping Lady Gaga style if it were actually a song for the movie.Letterboxd: Ray_In_Bruges
