Imagine if there are no black winners tonight. With so many people in industry, including the DGA, demanding the HFPA to have more black members, they would be so screwed lol. Boseman and Kaluuya better win because otherwise the backlash against the HFPA will be huge.

Feeling good about Boseman winning. Better than I was a few days ago. Fingers crossed Kaluuya wins cause he outacts everyone in that category by so many miles.

Oscar winners Emerald Fennell Daniel Kaluuya and Youn Yuh-jung

Not to boast but I’m glad I predicted both Malek and Phoenix’s upset wins. I’m currently going 3 for 3 in my predictions in this category so I hope my predictions Boseman wins isn’t wrong.

Was Phoenix really an upset though? I remember watching last year and finding it absolutely obvious that he would win.

Neither Malek or Phoenix were upsets in my opinion.

Well when I say upset I mean when it comes to the odds (although I might be mistaken and Phoenix was ahead of Driver in the odds) on here. I found them obvious (especially Malek) because literally everyone was talking about them and their performances.

In spite of my Malek prediction, I did embarrass myself a bit that night because I still predicted Gaga lol.

    My bad!

I sometimes confuse forum chatter on here with the odds lol. Although I am still glad I predicted both of them and ignored people on here who kept going on about how Adam Driver and Bradley Cooper were far ahead lol. Same with Zellweger last year even though people kept saying ScarJo was locked for the win because “Zellweger had too many Golden Globes already”.

ScarJo was locked for the win because “Zellweger had too many Golden Globes already”.

Didn’t that argument get used at Dern too? Which is even funnier since all of her Globes were for television.

What was funny about the Zellweger argument is that her Golden Globes all were from almost 20+ years ago lol.

They will at the very least have a black winner form television (Boyega), and from film (Bosewick).

I massively don’t rate Boyega in general although his Small Axe work was better than his usual.

I really really want to see Daniel Kaluuya win because I feel like that will be what pushes him ahead in momentum towards the Oscar. The fact that SBC is even a contender against his performance is depressing as hell.

Chicago 7 winning Best Drama, Best Supporting Actor and Best Screenplay would be a celebration of white mediocrity. That wouldn’t body well for an institution that’s already under scrutiny for having no black members. But it’s the same group that nominated the Razzie frontrunner Music because Sia bought them, so I don’t think they actually care about their reputation.

The controversy didn’t occur until around the last day of voting. Nothing they could do now lol. They love Sorkin!
