Day and Pike both winning is absolutely bonkers! Especially Day – I was fairly certain she was fifth in that race. Congratulations!

CC is even worse than the globes. Just look at who pundits are trying to push to win and make them your predictions. I didnt say years ago they predict the oscars badly for nothing.

She did turn in a noteworthy performance. These are not the Olympics and there is no problem if someone else wins who you didn’t stan wins!
ReplyCopy URLFebruary 28, 2021 at 8:40 pm #1204071206This is probably the 100th comment saying so, but those actress wins (film) came out of nowhere. I think I had them in 5th for each category.
ReplyCopy URLFebruary 28, 2021 at 8:44 pm #1204071245The latest contender + newcomer/biopic role + HFPA saving face with rewarding POC nominees with multiple wins all greatly aided Andra Day’s shocking win. Watch out for the February releases.
ReplyCopy URLFebruary 28, 2021 at 8:45 pm #1204071265My main takeaways:
ReplyCopy URL
– both the male acting awards feel like they’re solidifying (and in Boseman’s case, you might as well engrave it right now);
– conversely, both female acting awards have no narrative building to speak of. I think basically anything could happen here going forward (and if Minari is really picking up steam, there’s a real opening for Youn here);
– this was the awards body theoretically least amenable to Nomadland, so that it won here is great news for it.February 28, 2021 at 8:50 pm #1204071327My main takeaway is that if you are taking takeaways from the globes you are doing it wrong
ReplyCopy URLFebruary 28, 2021 at 8:50 pm #12040713303270th place. I am proud.
I got 37th, which is bonkers considering I had Day and Foster in 5th. I think it’s the best I’ve ever done on here.
*(turns out I had Pike in 2nd, but I don’t remember doing that)
ReplyCopy URLFebruary 28, 2021 at 8:51 pm #1204071336Locks for the win :
Nomadland for BP.
Boseman for BA.
Kaluuya for BSA.
Zaho for BD.
Chicago 7 for Best Adapted Screenplay.
Complete confusion :
Best Actress and Best Supporting Actress. We need BAFTA noms, quick.
