Unpopular Opinion, but I’d rather have the BAFTAs cancelled. The HFPA were the first to reward a black woman in lead and they have more black female lead winners than others. I love their division of drama and musical/comedy as they’ve given unappreciated actors and movies times to shine. Someone said they snubbed this year’s Oscar supporting actress winner because she’s Asian, well, they were the only body that recognised Awkwafina and The Farewell last year. They’ve had more risky nominees than SAG which is just so basic. The HFPA has represented black women much more than other award bodies.

BAFTAs on the other hand are just pure racists and they’re even worse with their fraudulent jury system. They need to go

Talk as much as you want about BAFTAs, but they at least made changes this year to diversify their juries and honorees. All that’s left is for Wikipedia pages to delete mentions of Golden Globe wins/nominations on the top of the pages of actors and films and only have it under the “Awards and nominations” section of the person’s page.

The BAFTA situation is nowhere near the same as the HFPA. The fact is that BAFTA is voted on by thousands of people who are members of the industry. It is a peer-voted award that is not corrupt or opaque like the HFPA, who literally recognise whatever series or movie gives them the most gifts or throws the most extravagant parties and have absolutely random members and very few of them at that (seriously- the Russian body builder, some Miss Universe contestant. Wtf?)
