BAFTA right now after having gone 8 for 8 with the Oscars this year and becoming the second “most important” awards show in visibility all whilst they got dragged this season by film twitter peeps angry their faves didn’t make it in with a juried system:

FYC Emmys: "The Crown" in all categories, "I May Destroy You" in all categories, "It's a Sin" in all categories, "Small Axe" in all categories, Billie Piper ("I Hate Suzie"), Yvonne Strahovski ("Stateless") and Ruth Wilson ("His Dark Materials")

I wonder if this escalates to all the precursors and finally finishing with the Oscars being done. It’s not as if at least they have the rating factor. It could be a good thing not having the Oscar for a few years. They can make a comeback and its revival will probably be better handled.

    FYC:

    Best Actor:
Delroy Lindo - Da 5 Bloods

    Best Actress:
Sidney Flanigan - Never Rarely Sometimes Always

They’re the organization that deserves to be canceled the most.

Here is a link to a 2015 article that discusses the Golden Globe awards and bribes:

At least both it and SAG are actual industry groups.

The transparency from some of you here is disgusting. Excusing the actions from HFPA by displaying the (VERY FEW) times they’ve awarded POC/LGBT people/films is like saying The Academy shouldn’t have been called out with oscarssowhite because they awarded black actors in 2002. Some of y’all true colors are showing.

You articulated my frustration perfectly, thank you.

So is the hierarchy now: oscars then Sag then critics choice then bafta now?

I would love to see NBC broadcasting a new awards show.

“The Snubbed Awards” – rules would be:

    – critics and industry could vote (a mix between Critics Choice / SAG / WGA and DGA voting groups)

    – they would vote for performers / writers / directors snubbed (including nominations) at the previous Oscar. Therefore, it would be the LAST event of the awards season.

Or maybe they might sign a contract with Razzie Awards.

I can see this going one of four ways:

    1. This gets resolved before the end of the year and the show goes on like always. It will be laughed away by the Globes host, followed by a sincere apologetic speech by the HFPA president.

    2. The HFPA will find an alternate way to air the awards either through another network or through streaming at least for this one year.

    3. No awards show but they will still announce their nominees and winners through a press conference like what happened at the year of the WGA strike but they will resolve their issues and will be back the following year.

    4. The HFPA disbands. No more Golden Globes.

I think #1 and #3 are the most likely to happen. If they don’t resolve their issues in time, #2 is unlikely to happen because even if they get another network or they’re able to cobble together enough to produce a streaming show, there won’t be enough big-named stars willing to participate. #4 is not likely to happen because Hollywood likes to get their asses kissed.

Does this all mean that they’re going to start having Emmy Award Winner/Nominee placed above the names of actors in movie trailers instead of Golden Globe Award Winner/Nominee for someone who’s won or been nominated for both?

hello everyone, this is my first post here, a few friends from a discord server recommended me this forum.

about this golden globes failure, from what i understood reading the article is that there will still be nominees and winners announced, but no more actual ceremony. it will be more like what happened in 2008 when they announced the winner in a press conference.

Well, the more people in hollywood bitching about award shows the likely the Oscars will be next. Imagine no more award shows and less platforms for celebrities lecturing the viewers or general public about equality.

I guess it’s better that way.
