I love the Gotham Awards! I believe that all the best from the film industry will gather there! And so I’m often busy in plastic surgery here cosmetic practice!

Are you referring to wins or nominations?
In any event, eligibility for Gotham film awards is confined to films where (1) two of the three must be American— Director, Writer, and Producer, and (2) the film’s budget (this year) was less that $35 million- in prior years, the permitted budget amounts were lower. I note this to partially explain why there is such limited crossover between Oscar and Gotham Award winners and nominees.

I’m referring to nominations.
An average of 1.2 films nominated for Best Feature at the Gothams have gone on to be nominated for Best Picture at the Oscars (12 total over the last 10 years)
16 documentaries nominated at the Gothams have gone on to be nominated at the Oscars over the last 10 years (an average of 1.6)
Individual acting categories began in 2013, and there have been 30 actors who received a gotham nomination that went on to be nominated at the oscars for the same performance over the last 9 years (an average of 3.3)
Likewise, the Gothams only began recognizing Screenplays in 2015, and over the past 7 years 13 screenplays have gone on to be nominated at the Oscars (an average of 1.86)

October 25, 2022 at 9:10 am #1205131944The stream buffered terribly for me but my read was Aftersun, EEAAO, Bones & All, and TAR did very well
October 25, 2022 at 9:12 am #1205131955They nominated Armageddon Time but NOT Everything Everywhere for Screenplay!
ReplyCopy URLOctober 25, 2022 at 9:13 am #1205131962Women Talking definitely underperformed here. Screenplay nom plus Buckley and Whishaw, but no feature. EEAAO missed Screenplay.
Banshees also underperformed, and Farrell got in for After Yang instead (which they seemed to really like).
Undeniable that TAR cleaned up here in a surprising way.
