She seems to be moving into film more now. She mentioned in an interview recently that she hadn’t been getting many film offers which is why she focused more on television and theatre but that after her appearance in The Crown she has started to get more film offers. She’s going to be the lead of a World War II drama from the director of Monster’s Ball this year.

My point is more that it’s not surprising she doesn’t have a nomination yet given that she’s not done much big film stuff so far.

    Oh I totally agree.

Yes very true. I read the topic question as more, “who do you think is a high calibre actor/actress who has not yet had a nom”, rather than who’s been snubbed for previous roles. So yes, she doesn’t fit the latter.

Guy Pearce is the one who shocks me the most, because not only he’s really great but he also has been in quite a few oscar contenders (including two BP winners) so it doesn’t make any sense.

I was going to mention Donald Sutherland. I find it interesting that the academy never nominated any of his performances, but felt he was good enough to receive an honorary Oscar. A head scratcher.

Let’s be real, after a while, if you’re old enough that it looks like you’re about either die, retire or just never win. They’ll give you an honorary (even if you Newman/Lee and win the next year)

The Devil and a Quiet Place sounds like a great movie idea! Hopefully Yorgos directing it with Blunt in the lead
