What are hilarious performances from actors primarily known for their dramatic chops?

The first that comes to mind for me is Ralph Fiennes in The Grand Budapest Hotel. His delivery there is absolutely sublime and kills be every time.

I quite enjoyed Jon Hamm’s performance in Baby Driver and how he juxtaposed the intensity of the tense scenes of the film whilst matching Wright’s comedic water-cooling beats. I hadn’t really seen him in a comedic role before then (apart from in Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt).

Other performances that come from the top of my mind are Tom Hollander and Vanessa Kirby in About Time, Holly Hunter in The Big Sick, Amy Adams in Enchanted, Pauline Collins in Shirley Valentine, Kevin Kline in A Fish Called Wanda, Meryl Streep in The Devil Wears Prada , Dean Stockwell in Married to the Mob and Michelle Yeoh in Crazy Rich Asians. Bette Davis in Death on the Nile too!

FYC OSCARS : PROMISING YOUNG WOMAN IN ALL CATEGORIES (ESP. ACTRESS – Carey Mulligan AND ORIGINAL SCREENPLAY — EMERALD FENNELL), VANESSA KIRBY FOR "PIECES OF A WOMAN", ESSIE DAVIS FOR "BABYTEETH"

Huppert in Elle. Just great timing, incredible balance of tone.

But the correct answer has to be Tom Cruise in Tropic Thunder.
