The whole cast of The Devil All The Time. The script failed the terrific performances.

Mila Jovovivh saved Resident Evil trash which is why the series is my guilty pleasure.

Adam Driver saved Star Wars Sequel Trilogy. I also commend Ridley, Hamill (TLJ) and Serkis (TLJ) for their commitment but Driver was really something else.

SLJ and Ben Mendelsohn saved Captain Marvel. That movie felt like a TV pilot and not a good one.

Hemsworth and Hiddleston saved Thor. Another one that we are supposed to pretend was good. Nope. Outside of these two actors, it was mediocre at best.

Hamill and McDiarmid saved ROTJ. That movie is no good. It rides ANH/ESB coattails but is a huge drop in quality, takes forever to get going, wallows in filler, has no new ideas, sibling twist is genuine WTF, and outside of these 2 actors (and JEJ voice that’s always on point) everyone was on autopilot collecting paychecks.

I’d say Jovovich’s involvement in Resident Evil is one of the main reasons why those films are awful.

Suicide Squad was messy but Robbie and Davis were excellent. Kinnaman and Courtney weren’t bad either.

Cara Delevigne on the other hand…

    …Razzie worthy

FYC Emmys: "The Crown" in all categories, "I May Destroy You" in all categories, "It's a Sin" in all categories, "Small Axe" in all categories, Billie Piper ("I Hate Suzie"), Yvonne Strahovski ("Stateless") and Ruth Wilson ("His Dark Materials")

I don’t think that it’s possible for a single performance to save a movie that I would otherwise consider to be bad, no matter how great the performance is. But there is still great acting in some bad flicks. Mo’Nique in Precious comes to mind. She gave a performance for the ages. Gabourey Sidibe was also fantastic in that film.

This is an obscure one but Barbara Harris got an Oscar nomination for a terrible Dustin Hoffman movie called Who is Harry Kellerman and Why is He Saying Those Terrible Things About Me. The movie is so irritating and almost unwatchable but she has this little section of the film where she is just great (and nominated for it, quite an accomplishment considering the film she was in.)

I have just suffered through this one and I concur 100%, the movie itself is unbearable and a mess but Barbra Harris is exceptional in it.

    Saoirse Ronan in….

Every movies she’s been in between her first Oscar Nomination and Grand Budapest Hotel save for Hanna.

Elle Fanning in every bad movies she’s been in (Notable ones: Three Generations and Live By Night, Could’ve been her first nomination)

I wouldn’t say Compliance is a bad film but Ann Dowd surely elevates it with her performance.

Andra Day, The United States vs. Billie Holliday. She elevated a Razzie-worthy materials (the direction, screenplay, editing, supporting cast acting) up to the highest level because of her mesmerizing commitment in this role, and the results? One of the year’s best acting debut. She deserves all the accolades for carrying the whole movie by herself.

Also Faye Dunaway in Mommie Dearest. Also a total commitment. If not because of her campy scary and over the top performance, this movie would’ve been forgotten. It’s also a masterclass of what should and shouldn’t do in acting.

Yeah Andra was incredible but the movie was a big no.

The ten minutes in TROS where Driver is playing ‘Ben’ and not ‘Kylo’ is a masterclass in ‘show, don’t tell’. Everything about the way he looks and moves conveys that he’s a different person – without a single line of dialogue.
