What is in your unbiased opinion the greatest acting performance by a male and female of the 21st century excluding awards and nominations.

For male performance my vote goes Daniel Day Lewis in There Will Be Blood. No explanation needed.

For female performance I would have to go with Ellen Burstyn in Requim for a Dream. A showstopping, brutal performance that lingers on long after watching her.

For male performances, it’s a tie between Daniel Day-Lewis in There Will Be Blood and Joaquin Phoenix in The Master.

As female performances go, I’d say Laura Dern in Inland Empire.
