Just gave a quick look and came up with a top 15. Ann Blyth – Mildred Pierce Eva Marie Saint – On The Waterfront Sandy Dennis – Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf? Ruth Gordon – Rosemary’s Baby Valentina Cortese – Day For Night Beatrice Straight – Network Jessica Lange – Tootsie Olympia Dukakis – Moonstruck Jennifer Tilly – Bullets Over Broadway Barbara Hershey – The Portrait of a Lady Marianne Jean-Baptiste – Secret & Lies Natalie Portman – Closer Mo’Nique – Precious Jessica Chastain – The Help Michelle Williams – Manchester By The Sea

i actually have some mixed feelings about Portman in Closer. That ‘where is this love’ monologue were stiff, emotionless, and borderline Razzieworthy. Great list though!

I really haven’t seen many Supporting Actress winners, let alone nominees, so there is a high recency bias, but here are my top 20:

 Whoopi Goldberg – Ghost
 Florence Pugh – Little Women
Regina King – If Beale Street Could Talk
 Amy Adams – The Fighter
 Catherine Zeta Jones – Chicago
Rita Moreno – West Side Story
 Julie Walters – Billy Elliot
 Naomie Harris – Moonlight
Meryl Streep – The Deer Hunter
 Jessica Chastain – The Help
 Melissa McCarthy – Bridesmaids
Julia Roberts – August: Osage County
 Lupita Nyong’o – 12 Years a Slave
Oprah Winfrey – The Color Purple
 Rooney Mara – Carol
 Julia Roberts – Steel Magnolias
 Jennifer Hudson – Dreamgirls
 Lorraine Bracco – Goodfellas
 Uma Thurman – Pulp Fiction
 Anne Archer – Fatal Attraction
