because HoG has more Oscar hype than his other films? Extremely Loud got 48 on MC but still managed to get a BP nom bc of the hype..

That’s one example from a decade ago. Ridley Scott has made a single major awards contender in the past 19 years. If Gucci is seen as a mediocre campy movie, it’s not going to become an awards juggernaut.

Because it has a cast full of A listers, it’s camp, actors in tons of Makeup and prosthetics, accents and it’ll probably do quite well at the box Office. Not to mention, it’s going to be a contender for several categories below the line. I honestly think this movie just needs okay to good reviews, to be a contender in several categories. It’s not like the Oscars care that much about MC scores anyway. But like I said, I don’t really know how critics will react to it. It could be well received or get totally panned. They usually don’t respond well to camp movies.

Ridley Scott makes movies with casts full of A-listers that flop all the time, being a campy movie is a downside for its awards chances not an advantage, ridiculous over the top accents are not an advantage for it, and at most it’s likely just a contender for makeup, costumes, and maybe editing below the line. The Academy doesn’t care much about Metacritic scores for some films, but unless if a movie is a massive box office success or a massive crowdpleaser, it generally needs at least a 70 on Metacritic to do well at the Oscars. I doubt Gucci will get that.

`I would say Gaga is getting in based on weak competition currently. The trailer made me cringe at multiple places…but overall reception is positive. Unless this is a woman in window, hillbilly elegy level bomb Gaga is definitely in.

I am afraid post production for this movie was a bit too rushed. We’ll see.

Plus it doesn’t really matter that much because it adds to the camp, but accents are bad. Nowhere near Italian, kinda Slavic. Even the yt clip another poster linked on here, you can clearly hear the difference. But these are details, and non-Italians will not care. It adds to the fun of the movie

I thought Gaga’s accent was ok but everyone has a different accent which is parodying Italians.

The movie looks quite lame to be honest (just my opinion, don’t come for me Gaga stans). Gaga looks fine but Oscar worthy? Really? I liked The Last Duel’s trailer (with the exception of Matt Damon’s ridiculous wig) and Jodie Comer far more than this. Also, where is this narrative that Gaga is a big box office draw coming from? She’s had only one big hit (a very good movie). The rest two movies of her filmography are just bad bombs. Maybe the final product is good but I won’t predict it until the reviews come out and the box office performance.

GLADIATOR has a bad MC score and won Best Picture. If HOUSE OF GUCCI or THE LAST DUEL is huge with audiences like GLADIATOR is winning

Rewatched trailer..the strongest contender in acting is definitely Leto in supporting followed by Gaga (weak year…every other worthy contender is likely in a bad film too).
Gaga is Italian…I can’t imagine her messing up the accent. Just gonna believe she is doing the right accent.

Darlings, I see it earning at least technical nods even if it turns out to be bad. Your Prime Minister is living for this classiness! If this movie wins the Oscar I will give free healthcare to everyone in the GoldDerby reign!

My darling the real Thatcher, Queen of cuts, would be spinning in her grave if anyone who bore her name considered giving out free healthcare.

The film is still very much in post production right now. The trailer must’ve been rushed, idk. Maybe they got the trailer done this early for it to be presented before Respect in theaters.

“the rest two movies of her filmograph”, you can’t be seriously referencing Machette Kills and the other one (I don’t even remember its name). She appeared for a few seconds/minutes in those.

    Let’s be serious.

My favorite thing about the trailer is that no two actors have the same accent.

Gaga is going for some Russo-Italian type deal.

Driver could not be trying less.

Leto is full in “It’s a-me Mario!” territory.

    This is gonna be amazing.
