Feels far too early for a premiere when the movie is only coming late November, unless it’s a festival release. Unless you mean Rome Film Fest which is coming mid October but idk if THAT’s the place to premiere. We’ll see.

I’m talking about the Festivals yes. So far London and Rome could be within the timetable.

I guess Rome makes sense given the movie itself, but idk, i think they’ll just skip festivals.

And Gaga will be performing in Vegas all through October, so that makes me more inclined to believe we will only know late November.

On Twitter there have been 3 “reviews”. Apparently it’s still unfinished but one person said they loved it and two were pretty mixed/negative. However it’s unfinished and we don’t even know if it’s real so idk?

I’ve seen that as well, but that account is troll af so i didn’t even tried, they registered this month on Twitter.

I do believe there were screenings, new pics + the rated R thing at the same time makes me thing people saw it.

Seems kind of fake – why would a Portuguese language account be the only insight into reviews and not literally any other movie source? Especially because test screenings are almost always based in LA…

There was one comment from this source about how it breaks the fourth wall which may seem like an indication they saw it, but actually that was confirmed by the cinematographer months ago.

I think given the huge profile of the movie/Gaga we should expect that there’s going to be a lot of fake stuff out there which people are trying to use for attention / self promotion. I’m going to always assume it’s probably fake regardless of whether it’s positive or negative!

Thank you! I got this one too. It’s in Spanish but offers translation:

“Apparently test screening was an unfinished version without music. The source of my contact didn’t like that version butmajority of  the public did. It felt more like an Adam McKay movie rather than a Ridley Scott one.

According to that perosn, Gaga offers an exaggerated version (don’t know if in a good or a bad way). Adam Driver is supposed to break the fourth wall and the perosn didn’t like it at all (the rest did). The movie’s a drama but would be submitted as Comedy at Globes.

They just told me that it’s Gaga who breaks the fourth wall. Maybe it’s like McKay movies where several characters speak to the cmaera hence comparisons. It’s starting to scare me.”

These claims-reviews feel fake and they say all things that can be easily guessed-supposed from the trailer.

I’ve been on Gold Derby for quite a time and I’m not a troll and I don’t even visit the Movie threads that often during this time of the year, but I’m here just to say that I know for a fact that infos shared by this page are absolutely true. Their sources are reliable. And they worked a loooot to find those informations. What *maybe* happened is that those two people whom they interviewed were lying, which, in all honesty, seems unlikely from what I heard.

It's about the chaotic editing in Moulin Rouge!

Can you confirm the veracity of those texts from earlier about the first reactions?

I don’t like these comparisons to McKay because I don’t like McKay movies. McKay movies, at least so far, have been very unbiased and too in your face and treating the audience like everyone is stupid and need explications for everything. The greatest Ridley Scott movies of his career were the opposite of that

It is very possible that this film was commissioned by the studio with which he did not feel comfortable from the beginning but they demanded it in order to have the possibility to shoot the film that he had wanted for a long time. It usually happens that the studio takes advantage of the success of one to launch the other one.

Isn’t the McKay comparisons just on the comedic tone that these campy movies usually have? We already noticed that with Leto’s and “Father, Son and House of Gucci” lines. I don’t think it really goes on the values or politics McKay tries to explore in his work.

I prefer if they were comparing to The Wolf of Wall Street. After all, Ridley Scott was changing his old school style for a Martin Scorsese style for HOUSE OF GUCCI
