I just saw the Jason Momoa thing. Nothing there. Same as the Affleck thing (or at least what has been “revealed”). People are as usual going for the easy targets and the useless targets. You don’t get anywhere creating a story around Jason Momoa and his “joke”. How about looking for the other Harveys? Or are we pretending this is just about him and he’s the only one?

The Amazon guy is fucked now, but not much is said because he’s not as known or important. There are other powerful assholes out there praying they don’t get caught, thanking everybody for focusing on a rape joke at Comic Con and a non-groping video of Ben Affleck.

THIS. People are now going on a witch-hunt, which America LOVES to do (Salem, McCarthy). There are people out there who truly are horrendous people but people just seem to be focused on out-of-context and unrelated things. This isn’t about groping or abusing, this is about the casting couch phenomenon which has to stop. People who are getting distracted by what Ben Affleck did 10 years ago or Jason Momoa’s stupid joke are basically accomplices in the ongoing rape and molestation of people in this industry. There are bigger fish to fry so can we just move on from Affleck and Momoa to people who are truly abusing their power.

Also Angelina Jolie warned off other women from working with Weinstein, so she has done a lot more against Weinstein than Fonda or Streep or whoever else also knew because she possibly stopped at least ten women from becoming victims.

I understand if you’re fine with the kind of creepy behavior that Jason Momoa had, the groping that Ben Affleck had, and PROVEN covering for Harvey that both Russell Crowe and Matt Damon did, but please shut up about that on these forums. You’re only hurting victims of harassment and abuse by letting people who aren’t Harvey slide. When Matt Damon called on behalf of Harvey to get an expose on him axed! This is not a witch hunt, quit sounding like Donald Trump. This is holding the assholes who have been PROVEN to have covered for men like Harvey and people who promote rape culture accountable for their actions.

Any and ALL Trump/Harvey (and their ilk) defenders/apologists (like Oliver Stone, Lindsay Holan, Michael Moore, Donna Karan, and Teridix) can go screw the F off!!!

    BenitoDelicias wrote:
Now TMZ is reporting that Harvey’s daughter called police today saying her dad is suicidal and police have responded.

Teridax wrote: I hope that son of a bitch doesn’t kill himself just because I want him to face real justice, rotting away in a prison cell the rest of his pathetic life.

I also wrote and got 4 likes on this comment:

    https://www.nytimes.com/2017/10/11/world/europe/harvey-weinstein-europe.html

The British Film Academy suspended his membership. I hope the Oscars and PGA are next. Voting for those awards is a privilege I don’t feel should be in the hands of serial rapists.

Oh, and finally this one I also attacked Harvey:

Without naming any specific names, IN GENERAL I will be a lot more forgiving of these Hollywood celebrities male AND female if they sincerely take this as a learning opportunity and purge themselves of these sexual predator monsters like Harvey Weinstein.

    https://www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2017/oct/10/the-guardian-view-on-harvey-weinstein-a-watershed?CMP=twt_gu

Just for the record, NO I absolutely do NOT believe for a freaking second this will happen. I’m not being cynical, I’m being realistic. I also don’t think this will do anything to hurt Day-Lewis’, Damon’s, Streep’s, Winslet’s, Dench’s, or even the Weinstein company distributed Wind River’s Oscar chances in the slightest.

Ultimately, NO ONE is more to blame for the Harvey Weinstein scandal than Harey motherf**king Weinstein himself. 🙁

Get your facts straight, TROLL. #OWNED

I hope so. With any luck in the future more movies will be given Oscars because the Academy members want to vote for them, NOT because they have been told they are supposed to vote for them, like with Shakespeare In Love, The English Patient, Chicago, The King’s Speech, and The Artist.

I liked a couple of those movies (even preferred Shakespeare to Saving Private Ryan) but it can be glaringly obvious just how easily swayed the average Oscar voter is by a savvy campaign, the film’s quality be damned! Look at Weinstein’s Chocolat somehow managing a Best Picture nomination.

Or to use an example other than Harvey Weinstein’s Oscar bait, Scott Rudin got the mixed-to-negative reviewed Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close a Best Picture nomination over the universally beloved Drive, Bridesmaids, and polarizing yet acclaimed The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo. That kind of behind-the-scenes schmoozing shit needs to END.

The Academy has now axed Harvey Weinstein’s membership. It’s truly the end of an era, kids! It opens the door for quite a bit now, like rescinding Oscar wins or suspending membership to equally troubling figures (let’s not forget that Roman Polanski, Woody Allen, Bill Cosby, etc., all still enjoy the privileges of membership and voting too). Very swift decision on their parts, which is relatively new and refreshing.

He never was a member. He rejected all invitations.

I do wish they had taken away Harvey’s Oscar win and nominations for Shakespeare In Love and Gangs of New York. Still, I’m thrilled they didn’t chicken out and did the right thing by expelling this rapist maniac!

I do not agree with the idea of rescinding Oscar wins. They are done and voted for, and besides, what is the Academy going to do, force the expelled member to return their statuette? Eliminate their victory from the record books? Everyone knows they already won. I would approve of rescinding someone like Polanski’s membership, but not his Oscar. That would be absurd.

Good to see you are proving my post by going for the wrong people. Momoa said a bad joke, but Sasha has said worse on here. Affleck did grope someone, but that was ages ago and wouldn’t dare do it now. Crowe and Damon did do something despicable, but I never said that I supported that, I mean be a little more careful before you accuse someone else of something. This is not about rape culture in society, and by saying it is we might as well let Harvey off the hook. This is about actors and actresses being raped and abused because of the casting couch. Harvey was abusing his power as were Crowe and Damon. Going on a witch-hunt trying to find people who made rape jokes or groped someone years ago, that’s just letting these powerful men who have a chokehold on Hollywood and everyone’s careers within go unaccounted for. There are fucked up shits out there, but we are now getting caught up in sick jokes. I can guarantee that unless there isn’t an overhaul in Hollywood by the time the Oscars end, then the Weinstein scandal and the testimonies of all his victims was for nothing. If we can’t get rid of the casting couch, right now before this blows over, than we have failed.

And yet Polanski is still a member. Until they expel him, this is all show.

Man, that Casey Affleck Oscar win hasn’t aged well. So much crap coming out. All these unreported rapes. Just disgusting stuff. Academy is gonna have to background checks on all their members going forward. This kind of behavior cannot stand.

NOBODY is letting Harvey off the hook in the slightest by holding other assholes accountable.

Whether you in your privileged life ever realize it, this IS also about rape culture in society, and you only hurt the victims of it by narrow-mindedly seeing just Harvey as a monster, which he obviously is. Don’t forget that he is also obviously a symptom of a disease.

You are giving Harvey a pass more than anyone on these forums by giving the sick societal epidemic of RAPE CULTURE which allowed him to prosper and rape for decades a pass. There is no “witch-hunt” and you only prove your sad ignorance with your comments. 🙁

Also, being less offensive than Sasha is a ridiculously low bar.

@andymaccamcgaw Sarah Polley sums up my point really well in this New York Times piece: https://mobile.nytimes.com/2017/10/14/opinion/sunday/harvey-weinstein-sarah-polley.html?referer=https://www.google.com/

Seth Meyers also did a great closer look at Harvey Weinstein and systemic sexism: https://m.youtube.com/watch?t=1s&v=oKzFGhlFqqE
