    Here are last year‘s results;

    Surprisingly JLaw came in first with %53. Wow, what a nailbiter that race was! Winners Spotlight, Rylance, Vikander all came in last places with our BP winner collecting %2 of the votes.

    There’s a blogger that usually leaks the NY runner-up every year. It was posted on the Awardswatch forums, and most of them seem to consider him legit, so I’ll go along with it. According to the leak, Denzel was runner-up in New York.

    Those fuckers all probably thought JLaw was winning too. Brie who?! And who the fuck’s Mark Why-lance?

    Please. If Denzel won the critic’s awards you’d be clicking your heels together saying how just it is, not that he would be “shoved down” anyone’s throat. In the article: “Casey Affleck’s is a quieter performance, so maybe Denzel Washington stands out a little more with audiences,” says Davis. “He’s been around for a while and he has a huge fan base.” Completely plausible. He’s pretty cool. No surprise Jeff Bridges won for the same reason. From what I’ve read other actors like Bridges and Washington as well. Bridges’s popularity just wouldn’t be enough to get the award. Gag for Ryan Sameface Gosling getting second place. Anyone but.

    Davis is a pundit. He has to speculate and give some soundbites for the article. He doesn’t know “popularity” is the reason Washington and Bridges won heir respective polls (and Bridges only barely). The popularity argument dies a swift death, when you realise Meryl Streep only polled a measly 13% tie with Ruth Negga, getting soundly thrased by Stone and Portman. Meryl Streep is more popular than every actress she’s nominated with COMBINED. Streep has been nominated for 29 People’s Choice Awards and won 8 of them. If this poll was merely some popularity contest, Streep crushes all of them. Or least polls a much bigger percentage. You can make the argument that Streep is the single most popular actor on the poll (even with Denzel and Bridges in the mix). So yeah, lame argument. As with SAG, the polled movie goers went with the performances they liked most or found the best, and didn’t just the lazy “most popular” route (hence the low Streep percentage). Bridges and Ali are practically tied in percentage, so I’m guessing Bridges might have been the runner-up at SAG. If Denzel won the critics awards, of course I’d agree. Because it’d actually have been the honest and correct choice. Sometimes critics get it right, and sometimes they get it badly wrong. When Daniel Day-Lewis won all their awards for There Will Be Blood….they called it right. When they gave every possible award to Boyhood, they called it wrong, imho. Affleck is one of their Boyhood moments.

    Streep (and Huppert for the ones who know her) is a legend within her own right. The reason she’s a 13% is because a) Trump supporters love to troll the polls to make sure anybody who goes against their Daddy-in-Chief gets “backlash” and b) not everybody saw Florence Foster Jenkins enough. Just like not everybody saw Loving enough to give Ruth Negga a lot of votes and same with Elle.

    So we can now confirm whoever has the lowest votes in the fandango poll is a front runner now for future oscars?
