“There are good terminators, bad terminators, and neutral.”
Oh lord.
Btw, Amy Adams seriously looks like Tonya Harding here.

To be fair, I never thought the terminator line was that bad. I always took it as Glenn trying to relate a lesson to her grandson through a subject he’s interested in. Sure it sounded heavy handed, but given it’s a grandma teaching something to her grandson, that’s not really unrealistic.
I would say that it’s probably better in the context of the movie, but given these reviews, I’d probably be wrong.

Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close 2.0. But tbh, not even that movie was this panned.

Never underestimate how low standards can go.

The only one who can get away with it is Close and they should make all the promotion about her (if there will be any). I want to see her in full character and make-up giving the speech and I want Diane Lane or whatever to specifically announce her as Mamaw.

IMO, only Glenn and Makeup and Hairstyling stand any chance of recognition at this point.

Many have in the past.
ReplyCopy URLNovember 12, 2020 at 11:31 am #1203832184What you guys aren’t thinking about is that Netflix will drop this film like a rock now, just like they did The Laundromat last year. Netflix has too many contenders this year and they don’t have the time or
borrowedresources to spend on a flop film that’s panned by critics. Ma Rainey will be the 3rd Netflix BP nominee now and this film will be lucky to get Supporting Actor and Makeup.ReplyCopy URLJohn's Best of 2020

Obviously it’s near impossible for it to be a disaster of this proportion, but, say, Bohemian Rhapsody level reviews? Granted, the chances of that happening are low, but have we heard anything about the quality of the movie yet? Screeners have happened but there haven’t been reactions floating around like HE from a couple of weeks ago.
Also, how much money did Netflix spend on this disaster? We’ll have to wait to see the ratings, but I truly am not buying the “GP will love this” stuff. This movie gives off embarrassment vibes.
