I don’t think that this film should come out the same year as Sunset Boulevard, mainly because Close and Adams will go up against each other.
If its the year after then they will both probably already have Oscars.
Oscars FYC
Emma Thompson i’m ‘Good Luck to You Leo Grande’
Everything Everywhere All At Once in all categories
TV Winter FYC
Dead to Me in all categories

Close has already collected so many TV accolades so she just doesn’t care about it anymore. I hope she keeps this spirit of doing as many Oscar-caliber roles as she can. I think the Academy will give her chances after chances after the losses, and she is taking advantage of this fact to get nominated again, and may turn out to be one of the most nominated actors. I mean plenty of actors struggle to get nominated again after winning despite giving Oscar caliber roles!
April 12, 2019 at 8:24 am #1202849269Will this be completed by the end of this year? Funny Reese Witherspoon joked on twitter the night of the Oscars that she wanted to make a film with the two of them…….and now someone is.
Hopefully she’s still committed to the idea.

When Close did TV it wasn’t yet trendy but a means of staying financially stable while remaining visible to the public.
April 12, 2019 at 9:05 am #1202849321Close and Adams together in the same film? That’s crazy. I’m glad that the both of them are rebounding from those Oscar losses well and moving forward with new projects full steam ahead. Ron Howard though, ugh. I’m not expecting much at all from him, but maybe the ladies will make this worthwhile seeing.
April 12, 2019 at 9:25 am #1202849355Ron Howard has made some great films such as Apollo 13, A Beautiful Mind, Cinderella Man, and Rush.
April 12, 2019 at 9:26 am #1202849357None of those are “great” films, and “A Beautiful Mind” is absolute trash.

April 12, 2019 at 4:21 pm #1202849731It sounds interesting, I’ll admit.
Being tethered to Netflix probably means it’ll be the first film Howard’s directed since Angels and Demons to actually make money.

I couldn’t disagree more. I happen to be one of the biggest defenders of not only A Beautiful Mind, but also its success at the Oscars. And didn’t even like Apollo 13? Grant it, I know a forty-something year old lady who didn’t like it either just because she thought it was too long and too depressing.

Gold star for you then. And yes, that’s what I said. You can read, yay.
