I think Colman has the BAFTA on lock now unless Seyfried sweeps.

    Globe: Colman
    Critics Choice: Colman
    BAFTA: Colman
    SAG: Seyfried

FYC: Together in all categories (Actress – Sharon Horgan, Actor – James McAvoy, Original Screenplay), Shiva Baby (Adapted Screenplay, Score), CODA (in all categories esp. S. Actor – Troy Kotsur), Zola (S. Actress – Riley Keough), Together Together (Original Screenplay), The Sparks Brothers (Documentary Feature), Summer of Soul (Documentary Feature)

so if close is out (in terms of nominations too) could Ronan sneak in instead? Ammonite reviews are better than HE but it doesn’t have much Oscar bait appeal as far as I heard.

As someone who doubted her beating Close twice in a row, I’m now considering Colman more seriously than I did before, as Close may wind up not being the favorite based on these reviews, which means voters won’t feel as bad supporting Colman.

I definitely don’t think Close is winning either. I think Seyfried has this on lock. Colman just won, Hopkins has the hype and a film like The Father is not getting two acting wins. Seyfried on the other hand seems to be the best thing coming out of Mank.

I don’t know what some of you were expecting. Many of us were telling this was going to be panned for weeks based on early reactions but somehow you were still pretending it was getting noms such as BP or that Close was an absolute lock… Not even the globes will touch this outside of Close.

Yeah, I’m not as sure as you lot. With reviews like THESE???!!! …I think this film is going to be snubbed across the board. Sorry Glenn. Unless the reviews get better (and there is time for that).

Curious question though… What’s the lowest Rotten Tomato score for a film in which an actor was nominated for an Oscar for their performance?

With Adams out, Viola’s path to her history making 2nd Oscar just got easier but Ma Rainey better not fucking disappoint

Idk why people are making such a big fuss about this, we all knew this would happen. Also, just wanted to remind people that critics and voters have complete different opinions and it has shown more than ever these past couple of years. I still think Close can win, so we shouldn’t be writing her off completely. And it’s definitely gonna be Seyfried who wins if Close doesn’t, not Colman…

Have any movies gotten acting nominations despite scoring a 50 or below on Metacritic?

I mean…Rami Malek literally swept the awards season recently for a film that barely scored 50 on Metacritic.

That Incredibly Loud/Close movie had a 46 on MC but that’s still a long way to go for HE 💀

Jesus, I thought that got higher. I’m rephrasing my comment now.

The way people were saying that it was delusional to consider Vanessa Kirby more of a priority than Amy Adams…

Lol Amy was never ever winning over Viola.

The only person who can win over her is Andra Day, end of list.

This was a worldwide phenomenon about one of the most popular band. Absolutely not comparable to this redneck mess, come on.
