A 45/100 would be ok here. But 35 ?? This is Cats level of panned

I definitely don’t think Close is winning either. I think Seyfried has this on lock. Colman just won, Hopkins has the hype and a film like The Father is not getting two acting wins. Seyfried on the other hand seems to be the best thing coming out of Mank.

Nobody should underestimate The Father – it’s an acting showcase. Two wins are definitely not out of the question.

    FYC:

    Director: Chloe Zhao
    Leading Actress: Frances McDormand
    Leading Actor: Anthony Hopkins
    Supporting Actress: Youn Yuh-jung
    Supporting Actor: Daniel Kaluuya
    Adapted Screenplay: The Father
    Original Screenplay: Promising Young Woman

Lol Amy was never ever winning over Viola.

Idk, she’s white and vying for a 7th nom. Could have been her golden ticket with a better movie

Hate to be that person, but I don’t really want Glenn to win in this category, even if it is one of her best performances, (which I seriously doubt). I can’t stand it when actors have given iconic lead performances in the past and are given Oscars in supporting…it just feels like a token or something. I’d much rather she won for an undeniable lead performance in the future…

Just thought I’d share my thoughts again from the supporting actress thread now reviews are coming in. I want Glenn to win for an undeniable role/movie, which this apparently isn’t. Please let it be so.

    FYC:

Virginie Efira, Charlotte Rampling, Lambert Wilson, Benedetta (Actress, Supporting Actress, Supporting Actor)

Jim Broadbent, Helen Mirren, The Duke (Actor, Supporting Actress)

Especially considering it’s probably a directing nom lock at this point and that’s all a film needs to be considered for two acting wins (that or an editing nomination).

FYC: All things The Crown, Hacks and I May Destroy You (and Hannah Waddingham and Julianne Nicholson whilst you're at it)!!

    Well…

    Saw that coming.

Still going with Colman for S Actress. I can’t quite see them handing it to Seyfried just yet.

Lol Amy was never ever winning over Viola. The only person who can win over her is Andra Day, end of list.

Why not? Nothing is sure about Viola. The trailer was somehow disappointing for her. I hope not, but wait and see

Y’all are still acting like Hopkins is a lock hurting Colman… He is not.

Exactly. If anything, their performances compliment each other so well that it only makes sense if both take it home.

Everything about this project seemed bad to me from the start, but I wanted it to work for Glenn’s sake.

I’d rather her get “snubbed” than lose again so… universe, do your thing ☝🏾

It will definitely get an Editing nomination since Hopkins’ descent into Alzheimer’s required some clever visual manoeuvring.

Exactly. And also they’re both not in the Lead categories. This isn’t a Ma Rainey situation and even then all a film needs to do is to get into at least one of directing or editing to be considered a competitor for two acting awards. At this point The Father looks strong enough to get into both Directing and Editing.

Anne Thompson and other critics agree in unison that the film is Anthony Hopkins and he has the goods and buzz. Colman is not happening.

It doesn’t matter how much you cry, no amount of tears will dramatically change that MC score.
