I cannot wait for this film! These photos are everything!August 11, 2019 at 1:16 pm #1203019661
The movie boasting multiple nods helps Close since The Wife just had her best actress bid.
Yeah, I think in order for sole acting nominees to still win the Oscar, their competition needs to be evened out where there’s no clear alternative. When Julianne Moore won her overdue Oscar for Still Alice in 2015, her only competitor that was in a Best Picture nominee was Felicity Jones in The Theory of Everything. Though as great as Felicity was in that movie, she never had any chance of winning. When Christopher Plummer won his Oscar for Beginners in 2012, his only competitors that were in Best Picture nominees were Jonah Hill in Moneyball and Max von Sydow in Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close, but both of them never had any chance of winning.August 12, 2019 at 1:54 am #1203020143
I just read through the synopsis of the memoir it’s based on, and damn this is baity. Now this is the type of movie featuring the types of performances I just adore.
Emmys FYC - "Unbelievable" and "The Handmaid's Tale" in all categories; Viola Davis in Best Drama Actress for the final season of "HTGAWM;" "Ozark:" Drama Series, Laura Linney (Best Actress) and Julia Garner (Best Supporting Actress)September 6, 2019 at 11:06 am #1203060904
Isn’t it funny that Laura Dern was cheering hard for Glenn when she won the GG?September 6, 2019 at 11:23 am #1203060920
It’s sad Laura was my favorite this year, but if Netflix is releasing HE for Oscars, I have no choice but root for Glenn.
I read on the other thread that it’s just a general discussion at TIFF, not necessarily this year. Next year would be the most probable. Still, Netflix would be really stupid if they pit not only two very strong best picture contenders, but also two extremely strong best supporting actress candidates with each other. They better be smart if they spent $45 mil on this one.September 6, 2019 at 11:28 am #1203060926
I’m super excited for this, but low key hope it is officially pushed for next year.September 6, 2019 at 2:18 pm #1203061084
Close is very viable as a supporting contender going forward.September 6, 2019 at 2:23 pm #1203061088
There’s no way this is coming this year. Netflix has their hands FULL. And a massive contender in Marriage Story. It shouldn’t just drop in the middle of chaotic award season at this point.September 6, 2019 at 3:24 pm #1203061140
Jennifer Lopez has a bigger chance of winning than her. How many times it has to be said? Academy doesn’t care about Glenn. They just don’t care.
They certainly dont care about Jennifer Lopez, rightly so.September 6, 2019 at 3:49 pm #1203061161
Glenn Closeis coming.
Damy is comingSeptember 6, 2019 at 10:54 pm #1203061448
Will they release the movie at the height of the 2020 Presidential Election? This could be a make or break but nevertheless controversial move. And the author of the book is an ardent Republican.
