i wonder wether the razzies will dare to nominate glenn and amy
Well they didn’t nominate J-Hud last year for Cats.
FYC: Better Call Saul, The English and The Good Fight in all categories including Emily Blunt, Bob Odenkirk, Christine Baranski and Rhea Seehorn.
November 11, 2020 at 5:56 pm #1203830405So is Hillbilly Elegy this year’s Cats?

November 11, 2020 at 6:06 pm #1203830426The Judge was a fantastic film!
No, it was a shitty film, and speaking of Duvall, Josh Brolin of Inherent Vice should’ve been the one to take his place. Surrounded by a stacked cast, he stole the show.
November 11, 2020 at 6:20 pm #1203830454So, these reviews and critic scores are definitely suspicious. It’s a shame they can’t separate the film from the author of the book.
I saw this tonight and thought it was a pretty solid film. My biggest critique would be that the ending could have been stronger. Glenn Close and Amy Adams are EXCELLENT, and personally I think Amy steals the film and leaves more of a lasting impression. Both should easily be nominated, but we will see if the skewed critic scores are enough to sink them. I hope Amy takes on more unhinged type roles because I think she’s great playing crazy. Glenn escapes so far into character that I didn’t even think I was watching Glenn Close; she was MeMaw! Also, shoutout to Haley Bennet who was great in this. Her and Jennifer Lawrence should play sisters in a movie, just saying.

Definitely watching it on the 24th. I mean, one has to go all the way through.

Yeah but they nominated Judi Dench, who I don’t think even got particularly bad notices.
I think this film’s Razzie potential is dependent on if it goes into infamous territory on a mainstream level. Right now it’s being made fun of by awards pundits and so on, but it’s possible the general public just overlooks the whole thing.
November 11, 2020 at 10:28 pm #1203830842I really hope this gets nothing, but let’s be real, the only potential Oscar nominee now is Glenn Close. If the Academy hates Amy Adams enough to SNUB her for Arrival, I don’t think she’s getting in Actress. Adapted Screenplay is too competitive. I don’t think Netflix will try to do a Director play. Best Picture would have to require Extremely Loud and Terribly Close level brute force marketing for a pity nomination.
So if Glenn Close gets naught, it can be discussed on This Had Oscars Buzz.

November 11, 2020 at 10:49 pm #1203830860If Hillbilly Elegy is like a 55% RT score film, I think Glenn Close is still likely to win SA but now, I don’t see her winning anymore. Maybe she can get nominated but that one is a 50/50 chance.

As long as you don’t hex Sunset Boulevard or Glenn’s next Oscar vehicles, I’m okay with you girl.

Like I have said, I want Glenn to win, I just don’t want it to be a win for Hillbilly Elegy as well.

It will be relatable for those that grew up in small, run-down towns and certainly for anyone whose family has gone through drug addiction.
I would absolutely be SHOCKED if this film was nominated for any Razzie. It’s most certainly not on that level, and no where even close of being as terrible as a film as CATS.
It’s so strange to me that now since the critics have turned against the movie, the bulk of Gold Derby has too. Why are you all letting the critics speak for you, especially since the bulk of you haven’t seen the film?
C’mon, you’re better than that.
November 12, 2020 at 5:44 am #1203831214More like we saw that awful trailer. But how can I raise these kids???? Jesus Christ…
