The movie is finally released in independent UK cinemas today! I feel like all season not many others have seen it so would love to hear your thoughts here!

I saw this yesterday! It was a tough watch in parts but executed perfectly; and I understand why you have been pushing Zar Amir Ebrahimi so fervently now- she was amazing (as was everybody in the cast).

Glad you enjoyed it! To be honest I think it went over the top regarding showing so many of the murders (I think one would have been enough) but I do see why they chose to shock to that extent. Wasn’t the cast amazing? Zar was robbed by BAFTA!

She makes my top 5 for the year, I think. Her performance had such an intensity but also restraint to it, difficult to describe.

I really enjoyed the subtlety yet ferocity of her performance of a woman trying to do her job in male dominated society. Wbk if this was an American movie with a white actress in the lead role it would have swept the awards… 💀

Right? From pretty much the first moment Zar was onscreen she set the standard – when the hotel was asking for ID etc.

That iconic hotel lobby scene I know will be used for years to come in drama classes etc, it was a perfect Oscar clip for her (among many) and so brilliantly written…

Holy Spider is my favorite movie of the year. L O V E D everything about it. I truly do. I have recommended this movie to as many people as possible. Such a great cinematic experience that I will forever treasure.

The last time a movie made such an impact on me was The Handmaiden by Park Chan-wook
