The AMPAS board of governors will likely announce the honorary Oscars (Governors Awards) recipients either in June or July.

Who are the likely possibilities? Who would you like to be chosen?

I’ll put three short lists below, but they are certainly not all-inclusive. All of the names are on my honorary list are older (don’t like it when they choose someone too young).

Not many from me on Thalberg, but it’s not necessarily a life achievement award (wasn’t it designed to be for someone producing at a high level past or present?):

    Kevin Feige
    Rob Reiner
    Alan Ladd, Jr.
    Mel Brooks
    Ivan Reitman
    Christopher Nolan

Any of Bassett/Woodard/Deneuve/Huppert/Ardant/McKellen/Gong Li/Yeoh would be absolutely wonderful!

It’s inexcusable that Liv still hasn’t gotten it yet. She must not have any powerful friends on the Board of Governors. That’s how Sophia Loren and Elia Kazan got it despite already having won. Gregory Peck pushed Loren in and Karl Malden did the same for Kazan.

Compare to past winners like Bacall, O’Hara, Lansbury, and Rowlands, I don’t see Angela Bassett, Alfre Woodard, Pam Grier…

They are veteran and really good but not legendary yet

What a weird group of actresses to single out, though I beg to differ — they are (at least) just as talented as anyone from the first group you listed, but hadn’t had the same opportunities to show it in a white supremacist society and industry.
